Hope this is good news.

I don't expect any stark changes to Pete's base concepts, but sometimes, just having a different / fresh perspective is needed to enhance, eh? ;)

That new DL coach is a comer.

I bet he's in line to take over for Kris Richard should he leave after this season.

On a somewhat related topic, I'd like to see the FO poach a coach off Dan Quinn's staff in Atlanta. That coach would be Raheem Morris. Have Morris get back to his roots on defense by announcing him as the DB coach/Asst HC - defense. I think you'd see the secondary get back to being the LOB again. Morris is an elite secondary coach. Plus, he can help Richard out with the overall defense. Right now he's the WR coach in Atlanta. Offering a defense coaching job may be enticing to him.

I think there are at least two note worthy areas that jump out.

#1 The release of Sherman Smith as running back coach. That should clear the air and have an impact on their running back room and focus of the running game.

Running Back Coach Chad Morton bio >>>>
Biography

Hired on March 17, 2014, as assistant special teams coach, Morton joined the Seahawks after spending four seasons in the same role with the Green Bay Packers. In 2015, he will also work with running backs.

Morton’s contributions in Green Bay affected various aspects of the return game, where Randall Cobb remained an explosive factor on kick returns and was named a first alternate for the Pro Bowl as a kick returner in 2013. Cobb ultimately paired his proficiency on returns with his emergence as the offense’s go-to receiver and became the first player in NFL history to have 900-plus kickoff return yards (964) and receiving yards (954) in the same season.

..... A former return specialist himself, Morton was instrumental in helping acclimate Cobb to the pro game.

A seven-year NFL veteran as a player, Morton was a running back and kick/punt returner who began his career with New Orleans in 2000 as a fifth-round draft pick. Serving primarily as a returner as a pro, Morton tallied 5,401 career kickoff-return yards and three kick-return scores, as well as 1,431 career punt-return yards and one score, in 93 career games. He was selected as a Pro Bowl alternate as a returner in 2002 and 2005.

He is the only player in NFL history to return a kickoff for a touchdown in regulation and overtime in the same game (at Buffalo, 9/8/02) and joins Chicago’s Dave Williams (at Detroit, Nov. 27, 1980) as the only players in NFL history to return a kickoff for a touchdown in overtime.

In 2000 with the Saints, Morton tied the NFL single-game playoff record with 13 receptions, against the Minnesota Vikings. [urltargetblank]http://www.seahawks.com/team/coaches/roster/chad-morton[/urltargetblank]

#2 The addition of a 3rd defensive line coach matches up with 3 offensive line coaches currently on the roster. I anticipate the competition along the line of scrimmage will be elevated this year. I think it invites the addition of more young linemen again this year .... on both sides of the line of scrimmage.
