So George Fant got an extra quarter of a million dollars for literally being the lowest graded OT in the entire league by PFF.

Only in America.

Obviously only in America - it's the only place with NFL teams.

However, the team's outlook on Fant is positive. He was inconsistent, but he also had some effective games and given it's his first year playing the position I think that's to be expected. He was an injury replacement, not the anointed starter. The fact that he became the preferred starter actually says a lot about his ability to learn the position and understand Cable's scheme.

He signed a deal for backup money and ended up a starter. Even with the bonus he's under $750k for the year, which is chump change in the NFL. Wilson made more than that every game in base salary, and half again as much with signing bonus.

They are compensating a projected backup who became a starter. Nothing to see here.
