Good read inside. Click it. Always give Kapadia clicks.

This guy is the really bright spot for the defense so far. He's the 4th best guy in the secondary now, far better insurance for Earl than who we had before, and honestly, with Seattle playing nickel as a base package, McDougald probably WILL be essentially a starter. This also makes it highly likely that we don't pursue a safety in the draft.

I really like that idea.

I'd be careful with the term base defense when talking about the nickel. Yes, we were in nickel more than any other formation, but you have to stop the run on first down to go that route. Obviously there are some teams that we faced where we went all 3 downs at times, but our base is still 4-3 under/over.

Beyond that, yeah.....we need to get dude on the field.

Also, there were times when we went nickel too much. The ATL game being one of them. We'd show up in nickel on 1st and they'd just hand off to Freeman and Coleman.

Getting McDougald was an AWESOME add. It's brilliant actually. This guy started for TB the last 2 years and we got him for peanuts.

Bradley McDougald was our best value free agent addition. A timely addition given that Jeremy Lane regressed in 2016 and DeShawn is in rehab. It remains to be seen how well Bradley will fit in. However, the front office has expanded the options the coaching staff has to work with. Nothing like adding to the competition to improve the back five.

Good to see the McDougald addition getting some press. Thanks for posting the link to Sheil Kapadia's article. :2thumbs:

It is evident that the team will undoubtedly be drafting at least one DB.

The team wanted to go in this direction last offseason with Browner who proved unable to play up to the standards expected of him.
