Not the best article IMSO. Pretty consistently overrates our current talent (or their shelf life) at every position, doesn't take into account Pete's "competition" philosophy, and gets too much into "but they coulda taken X".

He also fell for the "multiple concussions" mis-news. Geesh, ESPN, thanks for that one guy who misread his teleprompter. You have no idea how far that misinformation has spread.

Fair points about Griffin's competition level and Carson's production.

THE UGLY: Seattle currently has two Pro Bowl caliber safeties, and just added a solid backup free agent. Adding yet another safety through a 3rd round pick means they passed on a more critical need.

All you need to read right there to see how familiar he is with the team's current state.

Seems he like so many do not understand how the Seahawks function, as far as Carson, they are a passing offense so carries were not going to be something he got a lot of, it is what he did when he got them, Mark Gastineau , his post playing days aside he kind of was a one man wrecking crew for a few years in New York, slamming him as a player is idiotic, this is the same idiocy that slams Bosworth which is from close to the same time period. The Boz was a good LB till the injuries really affected him.

Yeah, that was a pretty bad article. Carson's longest run from scrimmage was only 26 yards during his career? Damn, I was kind of high on him.

But you found that if you waited for just a little while and kept reading, you could find more reason for disappointment in what someone else said. Good for you, now back to your old self! :2thumbs:

Hey no problem. That article was way more lenient than I would have been.

What was unsaid in this article -- the point may have been there but it was somewhat buried -- was that the Hawks are close to being a Super Bowl team again. There is still a TON of big-time talent on this team. They are indeed getting older and won't have many more shots left at the ring. The immediate needs to get past a second round playoff exit again, a big corner opposite Sherman, an OT that can step in right away and produce, were not filled.

These new guys taken in this draft may turn out to be studs -- or not. Getting to the Super Bowl is, as we know, extremely hard, and it doesn't happen often. When you have most of the pieces in place, you fill those immediate needs. Drafting for a good team in 2020 can wait.

Its pretty simple, the secondary and DL are aging. The Hawks arent reloading, theyre filling up a spare magazine so they can reload more efficiantly later on. OL may be the worst unit on the team, but its also the youngest. And they obviously feel theres a lot of upside with the guys they have.
