This is one reason that I so love John Schneider and crew. Instead of simply cutting guys (which is going to happen in most cases), I'm betting he is working the phones and shopping around and seeing what he can get. He not only knows his own roster ... he knows the rosters of every other team out there as well (knows where the holes on their rosters are) ... and turns what would normally be a loss (with basically no compensation) into a gain.

The point was what is always the case with the Seahawks -- find the most talented guys out there ... let them compete against each other and may the best man win the job. Bottom line is that when push comes to shove, other guys aced him out. The Hawks signed Brock as a Free Agent. They signed him to a 1 year deal (the league minimum), so instead of getting ZERO from him when they had to cut him tomorrow ... they actually turn this into a net gain and get a 7th Round Choice. Bonus!

Basically they used 7th round picks to get the backup slot corner they prefer.

Coleman from Patriots
Brock to Vikings

John Schneider doing his best cookie monster impression with 7th round picks.

Yeah, think the 7th Round thing is working out well for this team? Just ask Chris Carson how that's working out.

We have no idea if that worked out. JR Sweezy would have been a better example.

So we signed him then got a draft puck without him ever playing a real down. That's some serious gm work right there

This is just good front office work. Signed the guy for nothing, minimum deal, never played a real down. Swapped him for a pick. Wound up with a guy they liked better, for that pick (more or less).
Win.

Interesting......I liked the Brock signing and thought he could have helped with depth. But getting a pick out of a guy that played a couple preseason games isn't bad.

Gonna be interesting to see who they kept outside of Sherm and Griffin.

If you think hes your guy, and you realize after you sign him that he isn't, cut your losses and move on.

I'm wondering what it was that made them think Brock wasn’t an ideal depth piece or that Coleman was better? I thought Brock looked decent.
