Seattle Seahawks ... the most expensive team in the NFL as of 9/6/17.

Not surprisingly, the Seahawks feature the most expensive NFL defense while the offense ranks 27th.

By the way per OTC, the 4 year break out plus pending 2018 commitment looks something like this ....

.......... Year .................... Offense........................... Defense......................

..........2014....................... 28th ................................ 12th .........................

......... 2015 ....................... 28th .................................. 8th ........................

.......... 2016 ...................... 29th ................................... 3rd .......................

........... 2017 ...................... 27th ................................... 1st .......................

.....2018 commitment ..........30th ................................... 5th ......................

Does "you get what you pay for" apply here?

Yes. Yes, it does.

Not really. The top teams in the league have 4th-7th rounders playing on the online, this allows them to spend on the rest of the team. Let's look at the Packers line from yesterday.

LT David Bakhtiari 4th
LG Lane Taylor UDFA
C Corey Linsley 5th
RG Jahri Evens FA
RT Kyle Murphy 6th

And this line was under siege all game their QB was getting hit a lot but they were able to give him just enough time to grind
out a win.

The Ron Wolf/John Schneider team building philosophy is built on the idea that you can build a quality Oline with late round draft picks thus freeing up cap space for the rest of the team. They looked and saw that elite D-line talent would always rise to the top of draft boards but Oline talent would drop.
