This is one area I don't know much about. Didn't we use all our cap on the brown trade?

We could ask some players to renegotiate I guess. I'm also not sure how it works with a season ending injury (like sherms), and if that means anything as far as his cap hit goes.

What are the options?

You will have to rob Peter to pay Paul. Likely another restructure that frees up money this year but moves into next. Although next year Seattle is estimated to have 19m with the cap increase. Not exactly a lot with some of the UFA's.

IR unfortunately doesn't give cap relief. Otherwise, teams would stash expensive players there once they get eliminated in order to roll cap space over to the next season.

We've already borrowed from next season twice (Baldwin, Russ) and I don't anticipate us doing so a third time. There's no reason to mortgage our future for a single season that already isn't going as great as we'd like.

Only the top 51 salaries count, so some guys could get signed for the minimum without affecting the cap much.
