I would guess at least weeks away. I haven't seen any reports of him practicing. It's not like he is going to be able to practice and then play all of a sudden. I'd guess when we first see him practice he will still be a few week away from returning.

IDK, a few weeks back Pete was mentioning him as being ahead of schedule and trying really hard to get back for the 1st game he was eligible. Then things went quiet. I didn't hear anything about any setback so I just thought maybe they were slowing him down a bit because of there being no room on the roster (sort of stashing him). Now with Sherman going to IR I wouldn't be surprised to see Shead back really soon.

Here's a quote from Pete from October 9th:

Pete Carroll on Shead, October 9:

“He’s just a couple of weeks now. He’s been looking at this Giants game and the week after that. I know he has a couple of weeks before he can get back out, but he’s in full push mode. He’s trying to get it done. As soon as they let him back out, he’s coming.”

...guess he's better than nothing. Seem to recall he got burned a lot last year before getting hurt. Might be a smidge better than Lane.

Well, he's a lot better than nothing actually.

According to Pro Football Focus, Shead had a passer rating against of 90.3 in games that he started opposite Richard Sherman. To put that into perspective, that's about what Shaq Griffin has given the Seahawks thus far.

AND Shead was quite a force against the run ... better than Richard Sherman actually.

So, putting Shead in there may not be a bad move whatsoever.

So listening to Clayton over the weekend, he said you want 2 weeks of practice before playing and he hasn't practiced yet, so not for a while yet. That timeline could be accelerated, of course, given the Sherman situation, but doubtful to me given Pete's track record for handling injuries and making sure guys are 100% before he lets them roll on the field.

Carroll said during today's radio interview that Shead's knee is not totally healed yet:

“He’s at a bit of a plateau now that he’s trying to get through and over, and that just remains to be seen. He is doing everything he possibly can. He’s in great shape. He can run forever. He can do everything, but he’s just not quite back yet fully yet where he has all the movement and extension that he needs. So until that’s safe he’s still working at it.’’
