After the latest set of injuries and complaints by Richard Sherman and Baldwin regarding the Thursday night Football schedule. I wanted to suggest to the NFL, why don't they schedule the two teams who will participate in Thursday Night Football the teams that are coming off a bye week?

For instance, week 11 if Philadelphia, Oakland, Kansas and Baltimore are coming off a bye week,

Schedule the thursday night football game as Oakland vs. Baltimore, and they do that for every week for teams coming off bye the lack of preparation / rest/ recovery won't be that much of an issue for teams.

You meana a bye week before TNF.

But the next Sunday game is 2 days away, so the TNF teams would need two straight Sunday byes.

It's not feasable obviously.

Since there is a month long gap for the most part in College Football, they should have a couple Saturday games every Saturday in December. And drop the stupid London games as well. Keep Thanksgiving game of course.
The product is very weak with these Thursday games, and it's way too risky for player safety, not that the league gives a rip about that.

Except that doesn't work in Sept or Dec, when there are no bye weeks.

Have Thursday night football for 8 weeks of the season. The teams playing on Thursdays will do so the week immediately following their bye.

If the NFL & NFLPA are cool with only half the league (16 teams), then leave it at that. If the NFL wants all 32 teams to play on Thursday, have two games on Thursday during that 8 week period.

Great idea, that's perfect! Send that to Mr. Goodell :2thumbs:

Yeah. Drop the Thursday games and London games. Thanksgiving games should feature teams coming off a bye.

If the players want to continue to play TNF games for the next CBA, then they should negotiate a 2nd bye week as well.

That'd fix some of their issues with having to play on Thursdays.

btw, the players can say all they want about there being more injuries on TNF, but the stats say there is no correlation. Not saying it's not tough for them to play on 3 days rest, but when you hear Baldwin or Bennett complain about more injuries, the stats don't prove that out.

Bottom line, they bargained it, got paid more. So hard to complain.

Get rid of 1 pre-season game or start the season 1 week earlier

Add one extra Bye week based on the above 1 week saving

Now institute that teams only play TNF after a Bye week

It will give teams 1 more bye week plus the 10 day period off after TNF -- it will allow for more rested players and fewer injuries as opposed to the opposite

How about the NFL drops Thursday games and one preseason game in exchange for a 17th regular season game.

Eff no. 16 is the right number, just like 64 was. And in the era of practice restrictions, dropping a preseason game is also a bad idea. How about expanding the rosters so QBs and offensive linemen actually have a chance to stay with a team and develop?
