This week, a lot of talk has centered around the fact that for the Seahawks, the month of December is their month. The Hawks see December as their month -- the month that they really kick it into gear. So, I decided to do a little statistical research. Here are the NFL's top QB's and how they have historically done throughout their careers in the month of December ...

[*Just a note: I decided to not include QB's such as: Carson Wentz, Jared Goff, Jameis Winston, Dak Prescott, Marcus Mariota, and Derek Carr, as I was focusing on ACTIVE QB's who have been playing since 2012]

PlayerComp % (Rank)TD/INT Ratio (Rank)QB Rating ( Rank)
Russell Wilson64.57% (2)3.066 (3)103.7 (1)
Aaron Rodgers63.76% (4)4.0 (1)102.6 (2)
Drew Brees66.23% (1)2.38 (5)95.5 (3)
Cam Newton57.35% (12)3.692 (2)93.8 (4)
Tom Brady62.65%% (T6)2.63 (4)92.8 (5)
Matt Ryan64.12% (3)2.36 (6)92.7 (6)
Ben Roethlisberger62.65% (T6)1.75 (8)92.6 (7)
Philip Rivers61.72% (9)2.17 (7)91.9 (8)
Carson Palmer63.13% (5)1.604 (11)89.2 (9)
Matthew Stafford62.55% (8)1.695 (9)86.6 (10)
Alex Smith61.36% (10)1.615 (10)86.2 (11)
Eli Manning57.58% (11)1.276 (12)79.1 (12)

And narrowing down the focus a bit, let's take a look at some numbers just since 2012 (Russell Wilson's rookie year) ...

[tdo=4]NFL QB’s Stats for Month of December (Since 2012) [through 12/5/2017]…[/tdo]

In the month of December, Russell Wilson is ...
#1 in the NFL in QB Rating (103.7)
#2 in the NFL in Completion% (64.57%)

Since 2012, for the month of December, Russell Wilson is ...
Tied for #1 in the NFL in most passing TD's (46)
#2 in the NFL in Passes of 20 Yds+ (explosive passing plays) -- 78 of those
#2 in the NFL in Wins (just aced out by Tom Brady)
#3 in the NFL in Winning% (.782%) [though admittedly with Rodgers, he's often been an MIA in December]
#4 in the NFL in TD/INT Ratio (3.066)

Think about that for a second. No QB in the NFL has a higher QB ranking ... or has thrown for more TD's in the month of December than our own beloved Russell Wilson.

So, buckle up campers. Keep your hands in feet inside the ride. If history holds, we are in for a fun time this December. As Russell Wilson would say, "Go Hawks!" ;)

Man, that Packers game last December really took a hit on Russ's numbers. Outside of that he's been pretty unstoppable in December

Unstoppable ... yeah, you could say that he's certainly been DangeRuss. Looking just purely at the numbers, you can make a pretty convincing case that he's the NFL's best QB in December. Good times are a coming, I'm thinking.

That's wild.

And thank goodness, we're gonna need it down this stretch.

What's really cool, is that down the stretch, Seahawks QBs have a history of performing well. Dave Kreig posted what is still the all-time record for December QB rating with 149.4 in 1986, which wasn't even challenged until Matt Hasselbeck posted 135.5 in December of 2005. At the time, I remember those were easily #1 and #2 on the list. Russ is just carrying on the team tradition.

WOW! Cool! Thanks for sharing Maulbert. I knew that Krieg was hot down the stretch during that 1986 Season. I didn't remember that he was THAT hot. So cool that this is like a team tradition -- of Seahawks QB's dominating the league. May that be the case for years to come too. With Russell Wilson at the helm, I don't see that changing in the very near future.

If you add in RW's running yards...................Total offense = the most overlooked & least appreciated QB stat in the NFL. They aren't all pocket passing statues.

See current stats:
T. BRADY: 3632-passing yds, 26-TD's, 24-yds on 21-rushes. 1.1-ypc, ** 3656-total yards, 26-total TD's.
R. WILSON: 3256-passing yds. 26-TD's, 432-yds on 71-rushes, 6.1-ypc, ** 3688-total yards. 29-total TD's.
- WHY ARE RUSHING #'s IGNORED?

Per: https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/stats/pla ... ry-passing

---------------------------------------------------------
Updated 12/11/17 to include Sundays games;

RW: vs: Jags
18/31, 54.8%, 271-yds, 3-TD's, 3-INT, 76.9-QBR + 5 rushes for 50-yds

T. Brady: vs: Miami
24/43, 55.8%, 233-yds, 1-TD, 2-INT, 59.5-QBR, + no rushing yards

New season totals:
T. BRADY: 3865-passing yards, 27-TD's, 24-yds on 21-rushes, 1.1-ypc **3889-total yards, 27-TD's.
R. Wilson: 3527-passing yards, 29-TD's, 482-yds on 76-rushes, 6.34-ypc, **4009=total yards, 32-TD's.

Because the media has narrative about what an elite quarterback should be and Wilson or Brees for that matter aren't tall enough to fit it.

That and New England has been a far superior team the last decade.

Seahawks won a SB and puked up another at 1 and goal, and then have been playoff pretenders ever since.

Don't mean to be harsh but that's the facts.

Granted, Brady has been afforded a much stronger supporting cast - including coaching, than RW over that same time period...

Just imagine if he was just 2 inches taller and could see over Ifedi's behind... :sarcasm_off:
I remember people thought Russel was overpaid ... Does anyone on this board still believe that Russel is overpaid?
Guys like Ben, Rivers, Brees, Stafford are thought of higher than our own Russel ... These stats need to be sent to ESPN.
Furthermore, historically we have played teams like Rams, Cards, 49ers (who were damned good for a while), while Brady has played the Jets, Bills and Dolphins ...

Russ is awesome, obviously those stats show it.
He can be better, and pretty easily if he could work more on his accuracy.
I see far too many pass plays where the receivers are waiting or holding up for the ball.
Please Russ, throw to receivers so they can catch the ball IN-STRIDE!!!

If he gets that part right, then his stats would be far far and away better than any other QB. It wouldn't even be as close as it is in these stats.

Put this in your pipes and smoke it. :pimp: How about these 4th Quarter Stats? (per John Clayton) ...

Russell Wilson’s fourth-quarter numbers are incredible. His 15 fourth-quarter touchdown passes tie the NFL record set by Eli Manning in 2011, and Wilson has four games remaining. He’s completed 80-of-114 passes in the fourth quarter (70.2 percent) for a league-best 1,028 yards. Even more stunning is that he’s been sacked only two times in the fourth, and posts a quarterback rating is 134.1.
