So... Clearly penalties have been an issue and keeping our defense off the field has been a problem for us, which leads to a worn down defense in the 4th quarter. What if we could use the penalties to keep our offense on the field and beat the crap out of the opposing defense in the first quarter. Basically, we just resign ourselves to not really doing anything offensively in the first quarter, as far as scoring, and blatantly play dirty football on offense.

What if we just have our blockers blatantly grab defensive players by the jersey and slam them to the ground, tackle them, trip them, whatever it takes to make sure the defensive player doesn't get to the ball. They're either on the ground or they have to chase from behind. Our offense makes big runs every down, but they get called back due to Ifedi body slamming a linebacker or Brown horse collaring a defensive end, preferably both on the same play. Odds are the Hawks would get a ticky tack holding call or some other phantom call that brings the play back anyways, so why not just be brutally blatant in the 1st quarter, take the extra downs and loss of yards to beat the crap out of the other team's defense? 1st and 10 is a 20 yard run that becomes 1st and 20, then maybe we run a clean play that gets us back to 2nd and 11, then we bust another 20 yard run off dirty football that becomes 2nd and 21, then we run a clean play that gets back half those yards for 3rd and 10. Then we try to convert 3rd and long and repeat the process if we convert. We seem to be better at converting 3rd and long than we are at converting 3rd and short anyways.

By the end of the first quarter the refs will be so tired of throwing flags that when our guys start playing clean in the 2nd quarter; they're not going to be looking for the ticky tack calls; they'll be looking for blatant calls. Then in the 2nd quarter our offense play clean football against a worn down defense and rack up points against them. Then we open up the 1st drive of the 2nd half and go dirty again for one drive just to let the refs and the opposing defense know we mean business. If we're going to get penalized every other play, why not take the penalties on offense and use them to keep our defense off the field while we beat the crap out of the other team's defense. This almost seems like a logical gameplan to me, all things considered.

TLDR, totally agree 100% though.

Works for me. Referees want that face time with the camera, hence all the penalties. Your way, they get all the face time they need, and once their desires have been sated, we can get on with the game and not have it constantly interrupted by "Look at me! Look at me!" referees.

On offense: Quit pissing away first halves.

On defense: Dump the softzone packages.

Both: Be aggressive (see the Philly game).

It was mind boggling watching Jacksonville consistently completing crossing patterns on us yesterday.

Paul Allen needs to get with the times and bribe the refs. How can such a rich owner be so greedy?
