The way the NFL is officiated and marketed is to the elite franchise quarterback. If you are lucky enough to find one you to protect him at all costs and constantly manage the parts around him to maximize his effectiveness and prolong his career. As good as a running back or defender is, his peak years pale in comparison to the average career of a franchise quarterback. You would need 3 Marshawn Lynch’s back to back to back to equal the same lifespan. Most defensive players can’t afford lose a step without being a shadow of their peak selves.
Just like Brees, Ben and Brady have survived with huge turnover around them, I believe Wilson will return to the playoffs multiple times. Sometimes change is rocky and the road isn’t always consistent but I trust that Wilson is a special player and when the pieces fall into place again the Hawks will rise again

He will not survive another year with Cabevell.

There is just no way he can keep getting battered without picking up a huge injury.

It’s one of the reasons it makes things so crazy that it sounds like there will be no coaching changes.

We are already seeing 2 quarters per game of Russell Carr. This is the #1 most aggravating thing about Cable in charge of Russell's security and Pete being damn near clueless about the offensive side of the ball.

Another season of the same ole crap and that goes to 3 quarters IMO. From there there will be little time left before Pete / Tom destroy the 1 franchise QB some of us waited 30+ years to get. :rumble:

I'd go so far as to say that an injury to Russell could save his career if it finally gets the coaching problem off the team for good.

Maybe everyone is afraid Cable will punch them if they tell him no.

Every time the Seahawks made it to the Super Bowl. They had a franchise running back. The running game is that important. It gives the defense time to rest and stay fresh later into the game. 2013 Super Bowl showed passing can get you there(Broncos) but doesn’t win you the game as often as running and defense. 2005 team with Shaun Alexander and the 2 Super Bowls with Beast Mode. The Seahawks need to address this if they want to use those blueprints for getting back to the bowl. Finding one is hard and this committee idea isn’t working. Invest in the position and stop being cheap. The front office decided they were going to invest in defense and place Russell in position to lead. He needs a running game to complement his talent. The read option isn’t an option because of terrible o-line and running back play. It used to be a weapon and now
isn’t used as often. Running back by committee works for very few teams, like the patriots and saints. A lead back is worth the draft investment. That’s a better investment then drafting d-lineman to turn into offensive lineman. Building a dynasty for this team starts with re-building the run game.

Seattle also had linemen making the pro-bowl on those teams.... Hutch and Walt were CLUTCH so were Unger and Okung.

I love a big back and a great defense too but that’s not how teams win over the long haul in the NFL anymore, it’s not sustainable. Running backs don’t last

As long as cable and bevell are still in seattle he wont do anything anymore. Brees, Brady, Rodgers. All those guys actually had coaches that gave a shit about building around their QB and protecting him. Pete seems to not care at all about his franchise QB.

Most Franchise type running backs have a good 6 to 8 year career, typically longer then most coaching staffs. What doesn't last is a QB that is getting hit time and time again without a running game.
