Nfl qb superlatives 12 1024x576

The highest-graded quarterback against the blitz was Russell Wilson of the Seattle Seahawks who posted a passer rating of 108.5 while tying for first in big-time throw percentage. He has a knack for creating space against extra rushers, but he can also anticipate the blitz and get the ball out of his hand quickly and accurately.

I think this goes hand in hand with the fact that Wilson is excellent at completing passes on short routes. He has great instincts and awareness to exploit gaps in coverage that are caused by blitzes.

Wilson had a 107.3 passer rating on short throws and a 100.9 passer rating on deep throws. His "intermediate" throws were the worst: 97.6. Compare that to Carson Wentz's 131.4 pass rating on so-called intermediate throws, Tom Brady's 122.6 rating, or Drew Brees' 119.3 rating on such throws.

It would be nice if the next OC could come from the Sean Payton/Pete Carmichael/Doug Pederson/Josh McDaniels school in emphasizing the short passing game. Our intermediate routes were some of the least creative in the league under the former regime.

Posters here have been saying that for the past two years......and our comments have apparently fallen on deaf ears in the coaching staff.
