Solari coached the 49ers' dominant offensive line from 2010 until 2014, after coaching with the Seahawks.

I wonder if this means we'll be moving away from zone blocking?

hmmm our worst years in recent memory the Mora year and the last Holmgren year, I think we ranked like 25th in offense both those years. This should be interesting on how all these pieces fit together.

Coached for Schottys dad but had his best success with Vermeil there in KC.

He moved us to zone in 2008.

It'll depend on the talent. He coached some of the monsters we were drooling over in SF in recent years.

Also, this time Solari won't be protecting a QB who tempts defenses to blitz him because of a weakening arm.

"We’re very, very specific. Hand points, footwork placement, it’s all critical. To execute at the highest level in the NFL, you have to be on your game. It’s just in the little things.”

“I think the offensive line here, when you look at them, you’ll see a very good technique, very good fundamentals and an unbelievable relentless effort to finish.”

Great technique, fundamentals, and finishing? Yay!

His O-Line tore us up when Frank Gore was busting through it.

Solari can coach both man and zone blocking, which is great. I want the line to be fundamentally sound, tough, and diverse!

Wow...I was about to post in the other OL Coach options thread that Mike Solari could be a potential candidate earlier but I forgot to do that as focusing on my job took precedence at that time. Good to see that my hunch was on track. Solari is a good hire and has considerable experience. Hopefully the Seahawks OL will benefit from him.

I have no idea if upgrading from Warrant to Thin Lizzy is a good thing or a bad thing. :|

Well I guess that answers my question. For some reason I remember him as a man blocking guy.

I don't even know what that could mean.
