  • This is sad news, unfortunately expected.

He was a totally great player for the team.
Until we develop a pass rush that will cause opposing teams to be forced to scheme to defend it we will never be able to consistently take the final step. The interior rush needs improvement. The OLine clearly still needs work.

  • Thanks, but this page always works best when everyone contributes, so I'm just recording. I greatly appreciate everyone's comments and information to try and get this right. BTW your blog is awesome and very much worth reading. Just loved your football 101 series, awesome stuff, as is your cap page.

These JS roster churn 10 player at a time moves are hard to get right and more work if the info is wrong. I try to confirm each move with some national source so we aren't making mistakes.

    Everything is now updated.

  • Wonder if another camp arm will be brought in?

There is an open spot and this time of year is the busy time for JS as players usually are added and subtracted with frequency.

Rather clearly it appears the team likes the QB they drafted and maybe by subtracting Morris they can give more reps to McGough.

That's what I'm thinking. PC said he was the biggest surprise in mini-camp so I'm thinking the only competition he has is Davis.

  • Wilson the starter, McGough the Future either Starter in the event we don't choose to pay 30 million plus for Wilson, we will have to see his skill set in live games but on paper or future back up. Davis current back up.

Since it is a new system with different calls and options with motion and all that if Schotty holds true and Pete doesn't undermine him, but using the basic same play type philosophy. All three of these guys will need to get as many reps as they can, Davis has played in it before so that will help.

IIRC, he came and left with a very large group of try out candidates.

He was not offered a contract.

  • Bio:
Three-year starter who was named Honorable Mention All-MAIA and caught 19 passes for 166 yards and one touchdown as a senior. Made 24 receptions for 222 yards and two TDs in 2016. Named Honorable Mention All-MAIA and made 32 catches for 275 yards and three scores as a sophomore.
    Pos:
Nice-sized tight end with next-level measurables. Bends his knees, plays with leverage and quickly releases off the line into pass routes. Plays to his 40 time, follows the quarterback across the field and works to make himself an available target. Nicely adjusts to errant throws and makes receptions with his hands away from his frame.
    Neg:
Was never a dominant blocker at the small-school level. Turned in pedestrian production.
    Analysis:
At face value, Wilson possesses the size, athleticism and pass-catching skills to play at the next level, but he needs a lot of work on his game. He comes with terrific upside and should be given practice-squad consideration this fall.

    Also played FB.

  • There should now be little doubt the TE is going to be big part of the run game blocking.

I predict lots of 2 TE sets, several these UDFA players are both TEs and sometime FBs, and the FBs are very versatile and able to play in more than one position. If nothing else there will be one or two kept as PS developmental prospects.

Chris, Thanks for posting that Bio on this player.

  • Would make a very cool return specialist. I like his sub 6 foot size. Reynolds finished his college career with 64 rushing touchdowns for the Midshipmen. He also was the NCAA's all-time leader in rushing yards for a QB.

    Image

Think maybe they are addressing proposed changes to kickoff rules? Could be exciting.

EDIT: ......... ..... Nicolas ruptured his patellar tendon in Week 17 of 2016. Six foot three with thirty four and three quarter arm length and ten and three quarters hands ..... kind of KJ Wright like numbers ........ John and Pete have been active with roster churn today.

  • No problem my friend. Have to say I agree as I thought both were interesting developmental guys.

Perhaps they like the other players already here better or there is something we don’t know about either waived player. They have a plan though, and these guys aren’t apparently good fits at present.

With DE edge rusher being a perceived weakness of the team the release of two guys who have displayed some talent in college at that position seems odd. The team has been good at identifying talent at the position that fits their scheme so we wait and watch with curiosity.

  • Interestingly a week has passed since the last roster move. JS must be having the jitters. I’m wondering if they are done at linebacker, WR, or DB. From what I see they may need depth at MLB even though the player may never see the field except when Wags needs a blow. I wonder if they are happy with the WR depth, it’s certainly a large field and a curious collection with every type represented. To me the depth is wide open behind the presumptive starters at CB, FS, & SS.

  • The Seahawks have reportedly signed or will be signing WR- Brandon Marshall to a 1 year deal apparently worth up to as much as $2 million if incentives are reached

    http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/365 ... n-marshall

So far there is no news as to who the corresponding cut will be. At present I have unilaterally assigned the number 15 to him even though Reynolds has that number at present.

The player waived to allow for Marshall to be signed is FB- Marcus Martin.

Seahawks make it official that they have signed Brandon Marshall. He could be on field today for OTA that is open to media. Waived fullback Marcus Martin to make room on 90-man roster.

    Updated.
Until we develop a pass rush that will cause opposing teams to be forced to scheme to defend it we will never be able to consistently take the final step. The interior rush needs improvement. The OLine clearly still needs work.

Super Bowl XLVIII Champions at last after 38 seasons. Awesome!!!

The player waived to allow for Marshall to be signed is FB- Marcus Martin.

Interesting .... they kept the three candidates with varying degrees of experience at full back and released the conversion project.

  • Thanks Kitsap, I had thought FB- Marcus Martin was going to be in the mix for the competition for the FB spot for a few reasons, his size and his experience playing D which would allow him to play on ST. I wouldn't be surprised to see him re-signed prior to TC but he was apparently the low man on the roster at present and thus is waived. I think we will see the the FB more often in offensive sets going forward.

Interestingly the team still, as Jville keenly has observed, three experienced candidates at
FB- in, 38- Tre Madden, 43- Jalston Fowler, 40- Khalid Hill. Both Madden and Fowler are thumpers and Khalid Hill was considered an exceptional candidate in college while playing at Michigan, all have prototypical or better size for the position.
Until we develop a pass rush that will cause opposing teams to be forced to scheme to defend it we will never be able to consistently take the final step. The interior rush needs improvement. The OLine clearly still needs work.

Madden is no thumper, Pete just wants him to be. Hill and Fowler are the two guys that I think end up in the final competition, madden is a RB trying to be a FB.

  • I guess Pete disagrees with you about Madden and has likely seen more to form his viewpoint, we disagree. Madden to me is miscast as a RB, but he is smallest of the group so I do get where you're coming from. My thinking is he will probably get beat out for for the job by one of the others depending upon what Schotty sees from them all. I think it is becoming clear there will be a FB on the roster this coming season.
