Madden to me is miscast as a RB, but he is smallest of the group so I do get where you're coming from. My thinking is he will probably get beat out for for the job by one of the others depending upon what Schotty sees from them all. I think it is becoming clear there will be a FB on the roster this coming season.

What I have sen and it's a small size since he has been on the shelf almost as much as Prosise, not a endorsing aspect for a FB, is he doesn't engage well and feel the lane when he tries to block, gets blown up when he does, he does not have the anchor or explosion into a would be tackler most other FB's playing has. We have seen some of the best FB's in the business here in Seattle over the years, the eye test tells a lot. Besides, Pete isn't an offense guy either.

  • There were reasons why the team chose Madden over Marcel Reece or Will Tukuafu and precisely for what you point out is why there is a competition for the FB position. Just because Pete is a defensive minded coach doesn’t mean he dorsn’t recognize football talent or potential. Reality is we fans are only aware of what we see publicly from the player and Madden has been injured enough to raise questions from us as to his suitability to play FB. The team has seen more but he needs to stay healthy like Prosise so the competition is in camp and Madden will need to prove he is better on more than one level in the competition.
Until we develop a pass rush that will cause opposing teams to be forced to scheme to defend it we will never be able to consistently take the final step. The interior rush needs improvement. The OLine clearly still needs work.

  • Here are the details of Marshall's deal which is very team friendly.

    http://www.fieldgulls.com/2018/5/31/174 ... s-seahawks

    Signing bonus: $90k
    Base salary: $1.015M (not guaranteed)
    Incentives:
    40-49 rec: $75k
    50-59 rec: $125k
    60-69 rec: $250k
    70+ rec: $350k
    500-599 yards: $75k
    600-699 yards: $125k
    700-799 yards: $250k
    800+ yards: $350k
    7+ rec TD: $350k
    Max value: $2.155M
    Min. value: $90K

All things considered if he was to not make the team the cost would only be $90K. Low risk for a potential high reward if he fits the scheme.
Until we develop a pass rush that will cause opposing teams to be forced to scheme to defend it we will never be able to consistently take the final step. The interior rush needs improvement. The OLine clearly still needs work.

I just assume they misspelled his name on the contract

  • Oh well, I guess a few screw-ups are normal.

BTW? Do you know when he signed his rookie deal? I can't find any info on it except that he appears now signed on OTC.com

Seems odd the team wouldn't announce something to the effect they had signed all their draft class.

I haven't seen anything about his signing anywhere. Even Spotrac has his numbers blank. I wonder if his signing went under the radar or if OTC is just using the numbers that he should be getting? Either way it's odd that we haven't heard anything official.

  • Here is a draft profile for Joshua Perry. I'd bet he was on the team's radar during that draft, and when he sprung loose they grabbed him.

  • To my knowledge, there is no Rasheem Green transaction posted as of yet. The hang may be in the final details or timing. (speculating the Malik experience as a possible influence). Actual rookie contracted numbers are defined by the current NFL/Union contract.

I am assuming the posted OTC numbers on Rasheem Green reflect the scheduled numbers for the 79th pick in the third round.

Nearest I can tell, excluding today, there were still as many as 20 NFL picks unsigned. Rasheem Green is one of them.

I wonder what the hangup is for Green's agent?

Interesting to note that Condotta is the only media type that has noticed this situation. Sadly not one of them has seemingly checked into the situation to give us audience the skinny.

  • Just a minor update note:

According to the dot com roster, Marcus Smith II has been re designated as a linebacker. His number was changed from #97 to #44.

There are currently only 5 defensive ends listed. Two of them are rookies and one of those rookies has been identified as a Leo Specialist. Seems likely that Carroll intends to explore the possibility of returning to the use of a defensive tackle at a 5 technique on run downs.

  • Thanks Jville!

I have Smith’s number listed right as that change was made with number changes before minicamps and did’t see him @ the 258 lbs. as listed just playing OLB. You are right though and the team lists him as an OLB and the number change clearly indicates just that.. He did play some at SOLB last season. Maybe the idea of bringing both him and Mingo in this year is to create more 3-4 looks for the D and in that with both on the field with Clark, Jordan or Green create a different type of NASCAR look to replace the pressures lost from Avril and Bennett.

I had listed Jefferson as a DE as I think the team sees him as more of a 5 tech and have listed him as a DE in the past. In his case though with the addition of Green he will be on the bubble and was waived at the cutdown last season. If you look at the depth the team has at DT it is good. Hopefully on or two of them will take a step forward this year like Reed and Naz Jones.

I will move both players on the DC.

    Changes made.

  • Some roster moves as camp is about to begin.

    https://www.seahawks.com/news/seahawks- ... -sign-two-

    waived:
    DT- Malik McDowell
    CB- DeAndre Elliott

    signed:
    TE- Kayaune Ross
    TE- Je'Ron Hamm

    Placed on PUP:
    SS-Kam Chancellor
    FS- Earl Thomas (RDNR) *anticipated*

and further, Bob Condotta reports via Twitter:

Seahawks have put Ed Dickson on non-football injury list, which likely means he was injured in a workout away from the team. Dion Jordan, Dontae Johnson and Clayton Wilson are all on PUP list.

  • A few more roster additions:

    https://www.seahawks.com/news/seahawks- ... ff-waivers

CB- Trovon Reed is back again
TE- Kyle Carter is claimed off waivers from the Giants.

Reed is an exceptional athlete so him being back indicates the team is still looking at the CB depth.

I know little about Kyle Carter, so will add a draft profile:

  • I always include the draft and every signing and release, trade (in and out)or retirement IR designation or PUP designation as a transaction for my calculations here so I disagree with Condotta’s number even though it maybe the ‘official’ number. I have the team making 105 transactions since the beginning of FA.

  • The addition of Jeremy Boykins raises the total number of players from the University of Central Florida to five. UCF is now the most represented college team on the Seahawk roster. .... I would never have predicted that happening.

  • UCF was a national championship tier 2 team so they must have had some good players on the team.
Until we develop a pass rush that will cause opposing teams to be forced to scheme to defend it we will never be able to consistently take the final step. The interior rush needs improvement. The OLine clearly still needs work.

Super Bowl XLVIII Champions at last after 38 seasons. Awesome!!!

  • I’ve been looking at the transactions number in the opening post. The site http://www.rostermon.com says the team has made 105 moves and the OP indicates I believe I have identified 111. I’m looking at this again to see if I have double counted anywhere but note that maybe I am including other factors they don’t include.

As to your above post Kitsap I guess my reading comprehension was defective or I was suffering from cognitive dissonance as I thought Condotta had reported the number of 89 transactions. With many media reports as well it is important to know the correct date of the reported calculation too.

However, I am striving to be accurate here so self reporting my errors is important to me. Still think my number is right but am prepared to adjust it to be in line with rostermon.com. After I look at this a bit more I may adjust my number.

EDIT: I am adjusting my number of transactions from 111 to 105

  • Both Bob Condotta and Ian Rappaport are reporting the team is signing UDFA DT- Lord Hyeamang, Columbia to the team

This player spent 3 days in camp with the Jets as a UDFA and was then released so I plan on treating him as a UDFA rather than an unrestricted free agent. He looks to be a 5 tech DE or undersized DT, nice length, good speed and strength numbers.

    Here is a draft profile:
