In a recent interview John Schnieder tipped his hand by making a trip recently to Laramie, Wyoming. Appears that he may have more than a passing interest in a QB by the name of Josh Allen. John has a great team of scouts, and can bet your arses that one of them recently called or texted him and told him to get butt over to the Cowboy's field and see this kid in person. I spent just a short while today refreshing myself on this guy and if we can finagle an early enough pick to snag this character I'm all for it.

He was by far the worst qb the ducks played this past season. Terrible. I wouldn’t take him if he slid to our 4th round pick.

Early enough pick? Like #1 overall? That might be what it takes. Glad he's going to be out of our reach to even be tempted by him.

I'd be mad as hell if HE is the QB he's entertaining.
Thread made me mad as hell already.

This might be exactly what John and Pete are counting on. I remember reading a lot of the critisisms leveled when Russell was mentioned as a draft consideration. To damn short for the NFL, and the list grew longer the closer we got to D Day. I was elated when they announced we had picked him. I'm no talent scout, but I like this kid. I might totally off on this one, but there are a bunch of respected NFL scouts out there who are seeing what I'm seeing. I could see him fitting right in to our band of otherwise overlooked talents, or in some minds, misfits. If John and Pete see enough there to go after him, I'm all in.

Are you serious?

QB is at the bottom of the list of needs. It MIGHT be one thing to consider if we had the #1 pick. But we'd have to give up an insane amount of draft capital, if which we are very low, to even have a chance at this guy.

You must be trolling.

Baker Mayfield does have 'it' though.
That would be Lauletta, and I even think his name is kind of slightly annoying. Not sure why. Maybe too many syllables. Probably not. Whatever.

Could it have been to scout some other players? I heard there’s a CB that had blazing speed, and there might be a DE and OL prospect in later rounds/undrafted. I remember reading somewhere in previous drafts he met with players that were clearly out of reach to interview them about other players he was secretly interested in.

He attended Darnold's and Allen's for sure. That's what GM's do. GB took Roger's at 22 with Farve as their starter. It's the prudent thing to do sitting there at 18 and 4 highly thought of QB's coming on line.

no trolling here, been a Seahawk fan since before their 1st draft. John said " I went up there to see this kids arm in person", that is where I got this crazy notion that we might be scoping him out, and not some crazy notion I pulled out of my hairy old trolling arse as you suggested or would have others believe. You'll discover over time that unlike many I actualy do follow the Seahawks obsessively, so that when I share a thought it is generally well thought out and factually supported, albeit won't always fall in lockstep with your line of thought, and from what I have gatherd thus far, that is of no great consequence at all.

This is going to be a fascinating draft to re-visit in a few years with the number of QBs that will go at the top. We could see four QBs go in the top six picks unless one inexplicably freefalls. History suggests that a couple of them will be big disappointments. Lots of pressure to scout (guess) right with so many available.

The thing that I don't understand about the Allen hype is I always hear two things about him. He has a big (awesome) arm but has had accuracy issues. Has that combination ever worked out in recent memory? Take a guy like Kirk Cousins, who had really good accuracy but a "noodle arm" in the draft process, but has carved out a very nice career for himself. I guess if you hit the lottery with one of these big-armed but flawed prospects, it's worth it...just seems to be a failed strategy more often than not.

Hawks will be in no position to grab Allen anyways so this doesnt bother me at all, but even if we were and Schneider did select him in the 1st, somebody needs to escort JS to the door. Way more important holes to fill right now than drafting a backup QB.

For teams with elite QBs already on the roster (like Seattle) these top QB prospect pro days are the perfect opportunity to talk trades with other teams since every team and most GMs are in attendance.

It's also a great way to gauge legitimate QB interest from GM's and scouts to get a gauge on where these guys are going to go. Gives John more intel on teams willing to trade up or back into the 1st, to get trade talks going. Also, how far they think they can trade back and still land guys they are interested in. All intel is good for these kind of things.

Not to mention that many rookie QBs do not work out and become journeymen backups at or before their second contracts. Having a good idea of the potential a guy had and seeing what happened to him lets them self-scout their own projections and influences whether they want to bring a guy in later down the road.
