  • I suspect this could be a developmental project. Not unlike that of looking at Richard Sherman behind Byron Maxwell a few years back. Looking forward to seeing which side they look at Flowers. Intriguing pick.

I don't know if it matters.

Was Sherman "good" coming out of Stanford?

If he was good by most standards he'd have been gone before the 5th.

No. He was a converted WR and only spent a year or two at CB - was clearly still learning that position.

And, he wasn't an instant hit for us either. I remember watching him during training camp/pre season, and he made a lot of big mistakes. Got turned around, struggled with his footing, etc. He flashed from day one, but as a prospect, I found Sherman as a high upside work-in-progress. It didn't take long for him to figure it out, but he earned that, and he wasn't an A+ prospect.

  • Fantastic pick again. It is just boring for discussion though because of how good the Hawks are at finding Corners late in the draft. It's just like "yep, he is long, fast, and physical." At worst he is Shead, but I think he is a much better prospect than that.

They tried it last year with Mike Tyson. Flowers has much better length than Tyson and is faster, making him a bit more intriguing as a conversion project.

  • While he’s not guaranteed a roster spot, I’d be surprised if he didn’t make the 53 man in September, in part, to his potential.

He has the length, speed, effort and pedigree of an NFL starter, can you think of a better team to unlock his full potential than Seattle?

  • “The first call Tre Flowers got was from the Arizona Cardinals, who told him they would select him in the sixth round if he was still available,” writes Adam Zuvanich of the San Antonio Express-News. “But the Seahawks swooped in and scooped him up first. Flowers said Seattle put him through a private workout in Stillwater, Oklahoma, a couple weeks beforehand, wanting him to transition to cornerback even though he was a standout safety for Oklahoma State.”

The Cardinals were without a fifth-rounder after trading up in the first to select quarterback Josh Rosen. Arizona was hoping Flowers would still be available the following round.

But the Seahawks “swooped” in and added depth to the ever-evolving Legion of Boom. Flowers had an impressive workout with the team’s scouts and Seattle does indeed plan to convert the stand-out safety to cornerback, as Carroll explained in his post-draft press conference.

  • Footwork and back peddle, he will need some practice for it not to be forced and then turn and run with receiver. He seems to have good instincts and definitely has the run support aspect and is a hitter. He will be awesome as a gunner starting out on special teams. His Safety in the box play makes him a dual position player as well as a just in case situation.

  • Funny narrative that we stole him from Arizona

We picked him ninth in the 5th

Vs Arizona’s next pick which was 8th in the 6th

So we “stole” him 36 picks earlier :)

  • Pete knows DBs. He has way more hits than misses in that department. He told Sherm in high school he was perfect to play corner in the NFL.

When they called Flowers to tell him they were drafting him, Pete said he’d watched “every snap of your fricken career.”

Yeah, I like this pick a lot.

If he gets the footwork down he will be better, better tackler and longer and more physical.
