Schneider says when they started the third day of the draft, "it was nerve racking" because they were worried Will Dissly would be taken before their pick. Their personnel staff and coaches were "really invested" in getting Dissly and had spent a lot of time with him. They consider Dissly one of their "fit guys" (meaning he fits in well with the team's philosophy), whom they have been very interested in for a long time. Carroll also described the wait for Dissly as nerve racking.

Carroll says they have had a really hard time finding TEs who can run routes and be a very strong blocker. They felt Dissly was the best blocker in the class and narrowed in on him early on for that reason. Schneider feels he is the closest to Zach Miller that they have seen. They were "keeping their fingers crossed" the whole time. Landing Dissly gives them a chance to get better at running the ball. He doesn't have to get much bigger because he is already in the 260s. His hands are "awesome." They could not hear the ball hit his hands during his receiving workouts.

Carroll says they will use Shaquem Griffin at the WLB spot and count on him being a factor on special teams. They think Shaquem has shown a great knack for special teams, chasing the football. They want to put him in spots where he can utilize his great speed. He's a very good blitzer in critical moments (25% success rate is outstanding on third downs).

Shaquem had one of the most inspirational interviews they have done at the combine; they felt "moved" by him. He backs up his talk with his play. Shaquem called that he would be able to beat his brother in the 40-yard dash, and that was confirmed by the Seahawks' own stopwatch. Schneider cried when he called Shaquem to tell him he would be drafted. This is about overcoming odds and never giving up by believing in yourself. We'll find out if his disability affects his game.

Michael Dickson was too unique of a player to miss out on. Matt Berry was at his bowl game, where Dickson was named MVP as a punter, and he felt Dickson was the best player on the field. Dickson does stuff with the ball that is amazing, beyond time and distance. His rugby background allows that, as he can spin the ball and send it flying in different directions. Carroll watched Dickson drop kick the ball for 60 yards. You don't see people who can do things like that. They do the staring competition with every prospect they interview. Dickson will be put into a competition with Jon Ryan, who they still love.

They love that Tre Flowers is 6'3 and can run a 4.4. He had a great workout with their scouts. He's great on special teams. He showed change-of-direction skills in their personal workouts with him that could allow him to play corner. He is going to be a conversion project to corner, but they count on him playing special teams right away.

Alex McGough was 2nd best in this draft class in throwing the ball off the spot (54%). Baker Mayfield was first (58%) and Sam Darnold was 3rd (48%). McGough has different release points, which makes him unique. He has a great attitude, great movement skills, and is tough. Only the 2nd QB Schneider has drafted, so they are excited about him.

Jamarco Jones is a two-year starter at LT at Ohio State against great competition. They will figure out where he can play on the line. They think he will start out at LT because he looks very comfortable there. George Fant can play RT, according to Schneider. They're not sure of Jones' versatility yet.

Jake Martin has a linebacker body but can rush the passer. He played in the 250s this past season, which is where they like him.

This draft was more nerve racking because they had fewer players on their board than in previous years. Rasheem Green was the player they were most surprised fell to where he did. Green is a really good ball player. They are excited about getting him. They're really impressed by the undrafted free agents they are pursuing, but they are not allowed to talk about them yet. Half of the team has been composed of undrafted free agents over the years.
