The Legion of Boom is a memorable chapter in the history of Seahawks Defenses. I cherish the memory of the jaw dropping physicality that Kam Chancellor and Brandon Browner coauthored in establishing the Legion of Boom. The passing of what was ..... makes way for the birth of what is to be. There is every reason to anticipate that something special is about to unfold. These are exciting times.

To a large extent, last years personnel losses in the defensive backfield have already been addressed.

I don't know exactly when Sherman's issues with his Achilles tendon surfaced. I do know, that prior to it letting go, Richard Sherman was forced to play at a protective level which was less than we have seen in the past. Ironically, Byron Maxwell was the one who replaced him just as Richard replaced Byron because of injury a number of years ago. I have my doubts as to if we will ever again see anyone play with the kind of violent rag doll physicality that Brandon Browner brought to the field. But, Byron Maxwell has restored a highly effective style of physicality to the field of play. He found his grove again last year in Pete's scheme. Byron should follow up by getting off to a good start this year. He can stop ball handlers in their tracks and create those all important turn overs.

I'm like wise delight to see the return of another very physical corner in Neiko Thorpe. The point being that this team will go into the season with some corners that can lower the boom. I realize that not everyone appreciates physical corners and has preferences as to style. Indeed, there likely are some on board that regard Deion Sanders as the greatest corner to ever play. Even though, Deion rarely met a ball carrier he wanted to tackle. To my way of thinking, Deion was a dominate specialist ..... but kind of a snowflake among corner backs. There ain't no snowflakes in Pete Carroll's defensive backfield. Pete has the veterans to lead the way and set the example as to the desired style and attitude expected of young corners challenging for roles and spots on the roster. And the roster has already been restocked with intriguing projects.

Veteran safeties Earl Thomas and Bradley McDougald are now accustom to each other. Coaches are looking for that second year jump in performance from the likes of Delano Hill and Tedric Thompson. Every one knows that John Schenider maintains a proactive list of alternative prospects and an enthusiasm for roster churn. On the horizon is only the spectacle of good competition and an unrelenting compulsion to improve the defensive back field.

Spring time is my favorite time of the year. It's a time of renewal and birth of a new season of joy. This year is gonna be a Seahawk spectacle no one should miss. Prepare to be amazed ..... once again. :2thumbs:

Go Hawks!

Terrific post!

The one area on the roster we should never be worried about in the Pete Carroll era is defensive back. Guy is an outstanding teacher and has the template for the type of player he needs in his system perfected.

Delano Hill and Tedric Thompson were specifically mentioned by PC/JS as players they are very excited about. I can't wait to see these guys out there in TC and getting reps in pre-season.

Don't sleep on Shaquille. I'm hoping to see continued improvement in his second year.

Shaquill was looking pretty impressive as the season went on. I'm glad he was thrown into the deep end early on in the season, the teething problems are behind us and he's on an upward trend from here on out, he can only get better.
