Without watching it I'll take a stab at what he said.

The team looks really good and they're doing a lot of good things on the practice field. Russ is working really hard with Schotty and they're developing a great relationship. It's really cool to see all the rookies and new guys working together and just learning. I know we lost some guys on D but with Ken back i don't think we'll lose a beat. Overall the team is excited and working really hard towards making this a great season.

Hey John what do you think? Yeah things are cool and we're excited to get this thing going.

Carroll is brutally honest about Marshall. He's here to compete, but there are no guarantees. Carroll has had successful big WRs throughout his coaching career, but it's been hard to find a guy like that. They keep trying, and bringing Marshall in is part of that. You're either competing or you're not.

I thought this was probably his most interesting press conference of the year, particularly his descriptions of what new coordinators Ken Norton, Jr. and Brian Schottenheimer add to this team.
