Thompson is dealing with a couple injuries and his lack of speed was exposed during the preseason.
There's a big drop off between Earl Thomas and just about any other safety in the NFL. Very thankful to have him to start the season.

I think there's a difference from Big Walt to Thomas, since Earl has two years left on his deal. Baldwin didn't play because of injury.
I love ET, he's one of my favorite players...I'm just talking about the message. Good hell, people on here were ready to jettison him for a 2nd round pick a few days ago...
I just like to think that Pete's message of always competing is something sincere, so players who are told that they get a shot if they show up and take part, will not begin feeling the insincerity of a mantra not kept.
