Chargers took away the deep ball and Wilson/Pete still haven't figured out a short passing game for when your run game is hurting. Rodgers, Brady, Brees all have elite short-medium passing strategies. Seahawks don't have one when they need to use it. Wilson still hasn't learned he can't hold onto the ball for as long as he thinks he can. Gus Bradley literally out coached Pete today.

I've been saying this for years now.

This is the Seahawks game plan every week.

1st down: run
2nd down: run
3rd: pass but run receivers 40 yards down the field and hope there isn't a offensive flag.

The short underneath routes are always open but Carroll lives for these stupid "big plays" down the field.

Smh.

Wilson's height is the primary reason they don't have a quick passing game. It's probably the only part of being a QB where his height is a hindrance, but it's a big one.

He cannot throw a quick pass in the middle of the field because the passing/viewing lanes aren't yet open. It's the reason amost every single time they're passing to pick up a short gain, it's an outward breaking route.

NO/Brees gets over this limitation by having perfected the pick play routes when short gains are needed. Seattle/Wilson haven't gotten there, and I'm not sure they ever will.

I hope the Rams think the very same thing :)

Agreed. Holding too long is one of Wilson's biggest flaws.

Pete seems confused out there at times.

Still, there's lots to like this season. They are outperforming expectations that's for sure.

Definitely outcoached today, which is sad when facing a Gus Bradley softzone defense.
Hawks should have had their way offensively today. Bad gameplanning (once they got away from the scripted plays), bad play calling, bad execution!

I don't think they are out performing expectations at all. I'd say 4-4 half way through was the expectation.

Not true, second to last drive they used them, they used them a lot before as well, Baldwin was used a lot in the quick game. It's scheming, Bradley took away the go routes pretty much and that left the Run and underneath stuff that requires patience, Pete doesn't have that many times in games.

Outcoached was just one aspect of an uninspired performance...but the "touchdown skit was just darling"..

Let's not blow this out of proportion. The Seahawks first drive, they looked like they could do that with ease every drive (similar to DET). Unfortunately LA made some adjustments and Seattle didn't- yeah they got out coached, but it's not like Seattle gets out coached every game.

The Pick Six was probably the one spot where the being outcoached clearly came into play. And why we probably let Schotty go at the end of the year. John Gilbert gives a good writeup in FG about it.

It's a serious issue with Schotty's schemes. His 6 yd outs have a high risk of being picked for TD's and we've seen it twice this year already from Russell. Baldwin was supposed to drag the inside defender deep but any smart defender knows this is just a tactic to take him away from the out route, so he's got an easy pick if he buzzes underneath. Happened in Chicago. Happened against LAC.

If Pete doesn't remove that route combination from the playbook today after Tell the Truth Monday then he's got some splaining to do. That route combination was the death of Mark Sanchez, Kellen Clemens, Austin Davis and Shaun Hill.

The remedial nature of our passing attack continues to be an issue when the run game stalls. Schotty is not scheming guys open and Wilson gets blamed for holding on to the ball too long.

I'm a little sick of Pete talking all the time about running the ball and then guess what all we do is run the ball. This is fine against a crap team like Oakland but to beat a good team we need to be balanced on offense and not tell everyone all week what we're going to do.
