Simulating snap counts

How often are these called? We had a lot of false starts yesterday and Britt&Brown was complaining about it during & after the game.

That's why nobody likes green bay, they do all that gimmicky crap to exploit the game and they do it a lot.

Called? Not very often, but it happens a lot, especially in college. WVU/KU had 3 called in the first half alone a few weeks ago. It was pretty telling last night when every single OL got popped for it once.

Green Bay has had an interesting history of playing in the grey area of the rules with the lines for some time.

Their OL has been exploiting the grey area and moving closer and closer to egregious rule violations now. But because they have gotten the referees to overlook all of the holding they teach (and they teach it to the grey area - it just gets exploited well past that) the referees rarely even call them on the blatant stuff.

You probably noticed that during almost every GB rollout or play where Rodgers was outside of the pocket - they were holding heavily. In fact, some of them were literally from behind and blatant. But they again, got the referees so used to not bothering to call or watch for holds - they get away with it. Kind of like how the LOB used to condition referees not to call contact in the secondary. It happens so often you wouldn't be able to throw a flag for every violation or the game would stop.

Like we did, they dare the refs to make calls.

If you go back to that play where Rodgers throws the TD to his rookie TE? Holding allowed Rodgers to get free and have a clean unpressured throw.

I assume that since they got away with that so often the defense was trying to get away with things too. Then again, they might just be desperate. They are the 25th rated run defense. We were one of the top rushing offenses. You have to try something.

Yeah college refs seem to enforce the simulating snap rule far more than the pros.

It's a weird rule to begin with as far as what constitutes simulating the snap, and unfortunately it's another subjective judgement call for the ref to make. Pete talked about it, said GB was doing a lot of pre-snap motion, and that's something we need to be better at not jumping at.

It wasn't the motion, it was simulating Russ' calls and cadence.

It was pretty evident due to that outro replay of Britt being pissed at something when the call wasn't even on him. Dude is as mellow and low-key as they come.

Didn't our Defense get called for that a couple of weeks ago?

Ask Aaron Donald how mellow and low key Britt is..........even the Hawk D-linemen say Britt is a red ass and likes to mix it up.

Either way, I'm with Pete, once you know they're doing it, you gotta hold your water and not jump.

That may have been the OL excuse but I also noted every false start was when the GB Fans notched up their pre snap cheering.

Last night was not a good night for Clink fans. Too many GB fans and too many stupid Seahawk fans that thought the best way to deal with the GB chanting was to drown them out... while we were on offence.

Thursday night. Too many opposing teams fans, too much drunks and too many newbies. The Sunday crowds seem to always be a bit brighter.
