RW on tight window throws only trails Brees

This tweet acknowledging the incredible year of Brees also shows that RW is throwing into tight windows very well. Obviously he isn't 2nd in the yards category, but I find that least compelling as it is more a product of attempts. Also, Brees is a beast.

And Brees is throwing to the god of all-time WR effiency.

Wilson has made a ton of spectacular throws this year. If you follow Next Gen Stats, that becomes really clear.

Part of the problem is the WR corps not creating much separation, which forces Wilson to make those hard throws into tight coverage. It has clearly been the weakest group in Wilson’s career (after departures of Graham/Richardson last off-season and with Baldwin’s injury restrictions all season long).

Guys like Jaron Brown have to step up. Brown actually has the #2 overall WR DVOA in the NFL. The problem is he isn’t used or targeted much. He will really need to step up this week with Baldwin limited and possibly inactive for the game.

Is Brown’s route running much worse than expected? That’s what it has looked like to me, which is disappointing.

Baldwin is back. Look for this stat to only improve.
