Kuechly is a great LB but Wagner is the best. Taken the entire unit under his wing. Getting Kendricks back is huge too, no huge plays tonight but he was all over the field, knows his assignment, and holds contain well. Young secondary starting to get some swagger too, especially against a solid WR Corp.
Running game continues to roll, Carson should hit 1,000 yards! Few of his runs dragged multiple defenders, Ive missed a running game like this.
Passing game .... eeeeuughhhhh.....
Definitely missed Baldwin tonight, but yeah they locked Russ and company down for sure.
Minnesota has a legit D
Yeah, they're #8 per DVOA for a reason.
Vikings D is really, really good. That said, definitely had some opportunities to burn them over the middle with a TE seam or crossing routes when they sent the house (entire second half). I think an occasional screen would have worked well too. Team is too reliant on go routes and against a secondary who runs stride for stride while pressing the bejesus out of you, would have liked to see a little more creativity.
71 passing yards is...bad (Russ definitely deserves some blame). Not too upset because it was an awesome win and the D/running game was terrific, however the offense needs to buy the defense lunch this week for keeping them out of the end zone multiple times. I don't know if they could have moved the ball through the air if needed late in the game. Seemed like any time running the ball on first and second didn't work, passing plays were an easy third down stop. Which is my #1 concern since it puts soo much pressure on the offense to convert obvious passing downs if they are only passing it a handful of times.
Again, don't want to be negative since this was a big time win likely securing a playoff spot against a team who SHOULD be a Super Bowl contender and they ran the ball down an excellent run D's throat.
