I’m ok with this. I don’t want him sniffing free agency.

Everybody basically knew they would. Hopefully they can work out some kind of a deal, eventually.

Not really surprised, but had hoped they'd come to an agreement before having to use the tag. Hopefully they can come to an agreement on a long term deal before that deadline is reached and he has to play under the tag.

I've been hearing they are close. Hopefully this is only for a little bit until they get it worked out.

Doesn't mean all is lost............just means they couldn't get the deal done by today.

I'd still expect something to get done before July 15th, that's when the rosters are close to being set and the available cap space is set for the year. That's when whatever dollar amount they're apart can be ironed out for bonus or annual salary to get the deal done.

And remember, Clark said he's cool with being franchised, so hopefully he wasn't just talking and now going to act disgruntled. So far, he's been great about it.

The good part is that they can actually keep negotiating. I remember under the old CBA, the team couldn't negotiate with the player once tagged. Kind of sucked. Rapaport didn't seem to think they were all that close. I guess we'll see.

Count our blessings, Lawrence is refusing to even have the surgery he was suppose to have, or show up to camp if the Cowboys don't give him his new deal.

Which my guess is this is part of the hold up for Clark, he and his agent are waiting to see what Lawrence gets to see if he sets the new market.

Am a bit disappointed they weren't able to get this deal done before the deadline.

With a $17.2 million I think we can't go any higher than that on a APY contract. If we can keep that as a base line but give him a say $43m in bonus total 5 Year $86m deal. I would be alright with it not loving the idea of paying him more that $15 APY but he still has room to get better.

Not the best formatting so you can just go to over the cap link below but you can see Chandler Jones set the high bar at $16.5 APY for long term deal at this point.

Player Team Age Total Value  Avg./Year Total Guaranteed Fully Guaranteed Free

I think this is a great deal for the Seahawks, you get to see how good he plays when he's making the big dough without risking multiple years of big money.

Interesting he got the non exclusive tag. If someone gave up two first rounders for him I bet they would let him walk.

Of course, do you know how many more picks they can turn those two first rounders into?
