Is he any good?

Considering he has bounced around a lot already, I would say he's not great. But I don't know anything about him and I trust Pete's evaluation of DBs. He might be a better fit in this scheme than elsewhere.

Former 2nd round pick, the kind of value signing that Pete can coach in to a steal for us.

Making a wild prediction, I say he follows the path of our last nickel corner, Justin Coleman, plays well at the position, and gets signed away for good money, leaving us with a 2021 compensatory pick. :irishdrinkers:

Jamar Taylor Scouting Report: NFL Outlook for Boise State CB

Jamar Taylor hopes to follow in the footsteps of Shea McClellin and Kyle Wilson, recent Boise State defenders that cracked the first round.

An All-Mountain West selection as a senior, he impressed onlookers at the Senior Bowl practices while playing against some of the nation’s best.

Is Taylor talented enough to be considered a starter in the NFL? Or will he blend in among a crowded group of cornerbacks in this draft class?

Shoot, I don't remember a lot of people being overly excited when we signed Coleman. Pete knows how to coach these guys up.

He certainly fits the athletic profile they've had success with in the past at nickle CB. He's kind of a cross between Marcus Burley and Justin Coleman. Not as twitchy as them but close, and with a bigger and stronger frame (better tackling/against the run?). Certainly worth bringing in and seeing if Pete can coach him up into our next NCB.

40 times:
Burley - 4.35
Coleman - 4.53
Taylor - 4.39

3cone times:
Burley - 6.65
Coleman - 6.61
Taylor - 6.82

20 yd shuttle times:
Burley - 4.21
Coleman - 3.98
Taylor - 4.06

225 reps:
Burley - 17
Coleman - 20
Taylor - 22

Weight:
Burley - 185
Coleman - 185
Taylor - 192

I'd like to get Colemen level of performance from him but I'd settle for Burley level.

I don't care about his college or combine measurables. he's been a pro for 5 years. He's a veteran and still young. It's a solid signing especially since we have so many youngsters in the secondary.

He will either make it or get cut like Antoine Winfield. The last few years our roster has been mostly set, this year by my count less than half of the roster is a LOCK.

Need all the help we can get in the secondary. Imo the weakest part of this team especially at cb.

Boise State, 54th overall by Miami in 13'. 5-11, 190, worker mindset, physical, tough competitor, instinctive and can hit. Has 41 career starts mostly at NB, has one in game ejection for what was perceived as a punch & some training camp squirmishes. I think they found a good one, we needed this.
