Dave Wyman said he can "bend the corner at a 45 kind of like Rufus Porter."

Pete said his "pressure ratio" was very good. He didn't play a lot, only had 9 tackles, but had 3 sacks. That may seem like a low number, but Pete requires disciplined play, which means some people don't get that much opportunity to make the tackle, but if they do their job, they funnel the play in to the people who do make all the tackles.

Here's some links to past Seahawks that have played well in this system, and how they started out. Plus Rufus Porter.

Jacob Martin 4 years at Temple 44 solo tackles, 80 Total Tackles, 18 TFL, 11.5 Sacks.

BROCK AND SALK - July 8, 2019 - Hour 2

W/Jake Heaps

Jake and Salk review the Mariners as they reach the All-Star break: what are the best and worst thing about this season so far?

Most Intriguing Seahawks: #13 Jacob Martin is discussed. Is he a legitimate part of the solution to replace Frank Clark?

Yeah, I get it.

But every great person had potential for greatness that was unrealized.

Martin showed some things late in the season that pointed towards an upward trajectory. There are reasons for optimism.

Still not liking the depth anywhere outside linebacker on the defensive side of the ball.

Potential in lots of places but thought some of the extra cap space would lead to vet adds

Yeah, it's a whole bunch of unknowns.

But that's where we were in 2012 too.

I prefer unknowns with potential over declining facts.

True... and the team seems willing to build rather than buy, with targeting 2020 as the big year.

Given Martin was rumored to be playing at 220lb at the end of the year, I really can't see him being more than a pass-rush specialist in Seattle's system. And that's fine! He's surprisingly technical and brings a speed element that is lacking amongst the other pass rushers, even if he lacks bend for his profile.

If you look at the Seahawks' additions, Martin will likely be tossed into the pass rush rotation and receive most of his playing time on passing downs or 3rd downs. The pressure numbers will likely be high again. I just feel his size will always limit his playing time and thus his potential -- even with defenses getting lighter.

Is he bendy? I thought I heard somewhere that he wasn't.

I'd actually probably take the opinion of MB over someone who probably has spent almost no time breaking down Jacob Martin tape.
