When the Hawks drafted him and the fact of reuniting with his twin ...gave me wet eyes...the Hawks tried him out early as LB ; but jerked him quick...he has been ok in STs...what happens to him this season ?

I'm hopeful. Doubt he ever turns into full-time starter material (but maybe he does) but one can make a pretty good career out of being a backup and special team stud. Heck, Procise has made a career out of being on injured reserve.

He's either gonna hit as a rusher or some real innovative type will try him at strong safety.

I hope he can find a role. I want that Griffin from the Peach Bowl on the Seahawks. He was an animal...best player on the field that game.

Agreed, playing down hill as a SS in the box that can shift in a heavy Dime package to rushing the passer would be ideal, most teams would never know what he is going to do.

SS or FS, love to see him playing one of hear two positions, but I respect Pete’s knowledge.

Probably cut after this year.

Seahawks PR have been leaking stories about how hard it'll be for him to make the team *this year*. A few of those stories dropped minicamp and more will drop in a few weeks.

Have to try and quell the backlash and inevitable accusations they were unfair to someone with a handicap.

I don't know if that's accurate. The Seahawks website, Yahoo and NFL.com both have positive stories about him the past few weeks.

We give up on players way too easily. If we can keep CJ for all of these years, I really don't see why we can't keep him for at least another year. He's a rookie and he's growing. The idea that we'd give him up this quickly is peak 2019 overreaction by teams/fans. We really do live in an instant oatmeal era

That's fair, since what I said is more conspiracy theory. But, the Seahawks do use the media for propaganda and for narratives. You can almost always figure out who's getting traded, cut, benched, etc.

Everyone said I was nuts when I explained Kearse, Lane, Percy were getting traded. But it was really easy to tell by reading the tea leaves a bit. You could tell a few weeks prior to their departures.

With so many obvious assets a pro athlete must have ; there are the intangibles that separate them from other players that are just OK . The OK players usually aren't kept because of roster limits etc. If Shaquem makes or doesn't make the team this year it won't be because of the lack of a hand . It will be decided one way or the other by Carroll ; who will have decide if Griffin is just OK ; or if he is really good and the Hawks really need him .I'm glad I don't have to make that decision. GO HAWKS

The Hawks are desperate for pass rush. They've got a lot of 5 tech dudes, and not many pure pass rushers. There is a role for Shaqueem there, if he can put it together.

His natural skill set fits a ers down specialist.

Spinner/Joker type role seems perfect for him

Yep. Just move him around and have him fly from different spot.

Steelers did that a lot with Troy.

Well, Kearse, Lane, and Percy were expensive players and subject to cost-benefit analyses. Shaquem is a fifth-round draft pick on his rookie contract.

While that's fair, it misses the point. The articles about him possibly getting cut weren't an accident.
