Thompson is doubtful with a hamstring injury for Sunday. Looks like Hill should be stepping in.

I don’t think Thompson plays another down this year barring an injury to someone. Anyone remember what happened to Kelsey McCray after he has a bad game?

I was reviewing the 2017 nfl draft again. The Seahawks picked Thompson with 111th pick of the draft one spot ahead of Eddie Jackson. Jackson went to the Bears. I’m puzzled at what the Seahawks saw in Thompson to put him above Jackson. Big miss by the FO on this one.
I'm sure you realize that every team missed on Jackson multiple times - including the Bears.

Jackson has been good but here's what the 2017 draft looks like two years later:
Draft AV

The players along the top are the standouts and the Hawks had arguably the biggest value steal in the draft with Chris Carson. However, if you look at the overall pattern it's obvious there is a huge amount of uncertainty involved. The #38 pick hasn't really contributed anything yet (G Forrest Lamp for the Chargers) while there are tons of players making big contributions to their teams that were taken in the 5th and 6th rounds (#146-#218).

In fact, the whole thing looks pretty random. Blame the Hawks FO for "missing" on Jackson if it makes you feel better but also blame them for missing on Kittle and blame every other team for missing on Carson. Or accept the truth that is a numbers game and the only way to properly evaluate this is in aggregate.

As a followup, here is the 2017 draft with the Seahawks picks displayed in blue.

Draft AV Hawks

As of today it's the 11th best draft out of 32 teams and in the same tier as the Rams, Panthers, Chargers. Not amazing but respectable given both the McDowell injury and our relatively low draft capital.

For Thompson he will suck no matter how well he plays. He replaces an All Pro playerand clearly isn’t one. When he makes dumb mistakes like the play where Ross burned him he attracts attention to the reality he isn’t ET who would have caught the ball, or broken up the play. There is little he can do to win hearts and minds as he always suffers in comparison.

We all know he isn’t as good as ET but at least he’s all in which ET wasn’t. Pete is clearly wanting to upgrade the FS position TT doesn’t seem more than a reserve level player, like the rest of them, Hill will get his chances now but there’s reasons why Pete prefers TT over Hill. The jury is out on Blair who’s preseason play left a lot to be concerned about with some serious coverage mistakes, his injuries in preseason have him well behind and he will be a project for a bit. The FS position is still an area of some concern.

A high school free safety makes that play at the end of the first half. Your point is solid but imo irrelevant on that particular play.
