What this tells me is that they looked at it from all angles, and couldn't say it was dirty.

And, this was a more difficult decision for them to make than fining him. After all, more viewers wanted him fined. And after all, this play changed the main draw of what this game was supposed to be: RW vs. a wily Carson who'd guided his team through a winning streak despite few weapons.

With the decision, the Clowney hit was adjudicated as legal, and as they have the last word, it should be accepted as such.

Shocker. They barely acknowledged the hit during the game. Of course they did not fine him. He knew what he was doing. Let's leave it at that.

The NFL has changed/created rules to protect the QB more than ever before. If they thought there was *any* possibility that that tackle was a deliberate attempt to injure Wentz, Clowney would have been fined.

We all know what he was doing alright, playing the game of football! :177692:

We also know what you're doing, being a sore loser, grabbing at anything that will support your biased opinion and climbing to the top of your soapbox with it. This is the wrong place to do that so move along. :141847_bnono:

It never should have even gotten to that point. Some are trying to make the game too soft.

It's pretty easy to figure out if you actually watch the play and look at the details. Clowney commits to driving off of his left leg right as Wentz starts to dive for extra yardage, which drops his body suddenly. Clowney pulls his down so that his shoulder pad can make contact first, near Wentz's arm that is carrying the ball. If Wentz had continued forward from McDougald's tackle instead, Clowney hits him square in the shoulder instead of falling downward onto his back/helmet. If that's a deliberate headshot (it's not), that's the shallowest and weakest angle you could possibly take to try and hit someone in the helmet.

Speed all of that up into real time and tell me with a straight face that he was trying to injure anyone. He'd need Spiderman levels of precognition.

How dare you attempt to derail those with an agenda with your astute analysis and common sense.

A simple "I was wrong" would have sufficed.

But thanks for littering our board for a week with the fake outrage at this non story.

If Clowney was somehow able to plan a helmet shot to Wentz that he knew wouldn't get flagged and wouldn't result in punishment, then that would just make him an even more awesome player than he already is. I'll bet Eagles fans wish they had him.

It was #FakeNews all along. Much like the Fail Mary. But media has to get clicks and apparently inflaming Eagles Fans is like shooting fish in a barrel.

But Nick Bosa makes a deliberate crackback block on an OL right under his chin and nobody cares.

As evident by yesterdays 3 which should have been 4 penalties, Clowney plays reckless as a mofo.

Pretty much everyone outside of ignorant seahawks fans have acknowledged it was at the very least unnecessary roughness and at worst a cheap shot intended to cause injury.

It was the biggest play in the game and basically changed the outcome. The NFL had every reason to cover it up and go about their business. Did you not find it suspicious that no one on the broadcast team even offered an opinion on it. I mean they interviewed the guy after the game and didn't even ask about the hit. Completely ridiculous

Eagles fans still searching for answers 2 weeks later....and just so you know Wilson takes late hits often to the head all the time with zero calls. Just ask Clay Matthew's.
