  • I'm okay with this as well. Freeman was pretty good overall until he had some I jury issues. Just gives another option over having to rely on guys like Homer to be the number 1. I'd rather see this than Lynch imo.

  • You never know but, I don't have high expectations for Homer or our draft picks. They deserve a chance but, Freeman is still young enough and has proven himself during his Atl run.

    Sounds like a good option.

  • No thanks. He's a terrible pass protector, prone to injury and fumbles.

Would rather have Deejay Dallas, Beast or Homer

  • Not saying I necessarily want him - but he's fairly durable, played at least 14 games a season every season apart from 2018.
Only averaged 3.6 yards a carry last year. it's a pass from me, better to spend money elsewhere

  • Signing Hyde or Freeman seems to me to be a hedge against further RB injury and the time for recovery of Penny. It is also insurance against neither of Homer or Dallas being good enough to cover for Carson.

Not sure I wouldn't want Beastmode over these two.

There’s definitely a good debate to be had about the utility of different body types.

Just saying the Hawks have an established type and it’s the latter. I blame Rob at Seahawks Draft Blog for changing the way I view personnel fit.

  • I actually like the move for a little added insurance and a good 3rd down/2 minute offense guy. If there still in the Clowney sweepstakes though i'd rather roll with Homer and Dallas and give a couple extra million to Clowney then sign Freeman.

  • I'm okay with it. However, I think Homer is going to be better this year than he was last year. Remember, Homer can also pass catch. I really haven't seen too many passes to Freeman or Hyde so I can't comment on that.

Yeah. What if Beast Mode had a couple of months to get ready and its obvious he's not a
#1 back anymore but maybe he could he used
Situationally. And he's a special kind of leader.

    No. Thank. You.

Falcons releasing Devonta Freeman with three years left on contract

. It leaves $6 million in dead money.

However, injuries started to mount for Freeman. He missed two games with a concussion in 2017 and battled a knee issue during the 2017 postseason. In 2018, Freeman played in just two games due to multiple injuries and eventually underwent season-ending core muscle surgery.

Freeman returned healthy in 2019 with big expectations but managed just 656 yards on 184 carries with two rushing touchdowns

Freeman caught 59 passes for 410 yards and four touchdowns. He missed two games with a foot sprain.

After watching him in college, I’m shocked he hasn’t been a better pro. The man just NEVER lost yards. I didn’t get why we didn’t hand him the ball every play.

  • Hyde averaged 4.4 yards a carry last year, had over a thousand yards and runs hard. If they can get him on a low $ deal, hell yes.
    Freeman averaged 3.6 yards.

With you on the last part pard. But I don't think Freeman offers the durability we need at RB. Who has been more durable with skills than Lynch? I like the prospect of the Beast playing on 3rd down with our bevy of receivers and TEs who can give Russ opportunity to play quick release for ball control or RPO for plays in space. They can't cover everyone AND worry about containing Russ.

I prefer this option to the Freeman option. I'm optimistic that Homer ane/or DJ will be a solid 3rd down back option. Both provide pass-catching and blitz pick-up out of the backfield. Hyde seems like a plus option to provide depth behind Carson.
