Key stat shows why Seahawks’ Russell Wilson is an elite QB

Wilson was an MVP candidate for most of the campaign as he threw for 4,110 yards and 31 touchdowns to just five interceptions while completing 66.1% of his passes. He also had 342 rushing yards and three scores.

And while those numbers are obviously impressive, as was his play when just casually watching him perform in games, Wilson was also elite in a lesser-known part of his game.

PFF

@PFF

PFF grade when throwing beyond 1st read last season

Highest: Russell Wilson - 88.8
Lowest: Jared Goff - 39.4

Elite QB or not

Ever Since they lost to the Patriots in the Superbowl, this team plays so slow in the playoffs.

2015- 31-0 Panthers after 1st half.
2016. 19-10 Falcons after 1st Half
2017 Didn't make it to P/O
2018: Ugly loss to the cowboys.
2019: 21-3 Packers 1st half.

We've ALWAYS played slow under Carroll in the playoffs.

2010:
Down 10-0 to Saints, won 41-36.
Down 28-0 to Bears, lose 35-24.

2012:
Down 14-0 to Redskins, won 24-14.
Down 20-0 to Falcons, lose 30-28.

2013:
Down 10-0 to 49ers, won 23-17.

2014:
Down 16-0 to Packers, won 28-22.

That's just how Pete rolls, frustratingly.

Statistics are cool and all but RW isn't exactly winning SB's left and right like Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers.

He won a lot of SB's in 2010. More if you go back to the Lambeau years.

Russell Wilson is a great quarterback, not an elite god, most people think he is,what Russell Wilson has is a great ability of never giving up, know matter what the situation.

He's got that "Your daddy can't put it in you and yo mama can't drag it out of you." thing going when it comes down to surrendering. He dosen't always win, witch makes him just great and not elite. My .02 cents

Cheers

Name one QB in the history of the game who “always wins”. One of the things that makes Russell Wilson elite is his ability to never give up, no matter the situation. Some guys have good stats and some guys have an innate ability to will their team to victory. Wilson has both. Sounds elite to me. Seriously, are we really still debate this?

You're exactly right oldhawkfan, it sounds "Elite", because that's exactly what HE is...He's broken records of ELITE Quarterbacks, with WAYY LESS than stellar, Pass Blocking Offensive lines, AND, even AFTER Marshawn Lynch was gone, Baldwin retired, & the LOB no longer there, he still took them to the Playoffs...87% of the Seahawks Offense, sounds pretty freaking ELITE to me.

"Elite" means head and shoulders above the best" how much hardware can they display.

For the Seahawks team RW is elite, but over all in the NFL Russ is just great.

Besides, he's too short...remember.

The funny thing about that statement is that it makes him sound like he makes his hay through making progressions while in t he pocket, when in reality he's usually leaving the pocket (sometimes before it's merited) and finding someone open once the secondary gets tired.

But hey - eliteness is eliteness. I don't care how he does it.

Rodgers wasn't the quarterback when Lambeau was coach of the Packers. That was Brett Favre.

We really do need to start a twitter campaign to shame the MVP voters for never giving him a single vote. IT actually is shameful.

That being said if Wilson is this franchises Michael Jordan then why in the heck are we running our offense through Rodman? (stolen frorm reddit thread)

Words like " a lot" when used to desribe how many SB's one can win in 2010?
