I just heard that Detroit was 8 for 8 on third down in the second half. Wow. Shore that up and things can only get better!

Spoke on third downs and said they need to work on them, and said the Lions out executed us on the last drive.

Talked about having a chance to win every game so far in the first half and how we need to execute better down the stretch

Defensively we were disappointed...uncharacteristic...things to correct and we are going to work on it and get better at it.

Big focus on QB....had a very prosperous first half and has grown and shown his character and athleticism, but he needs to improve just like the rest of the team, especially on third down and redzone

We are good at running, becoming more proficient at passing...rock solid in Special teams....looking for more big plays there. Going to continue to ride the defense

Against the lions we made a few mistakes of guys being just a little out of place and they took advantage of every one of them.

Pointed out the Linebackers as a group that had some trouble executing.

Said we just weren't as sharp as we should have been. We'll continue to improve.

asked about not enough pressure in 3rd and long, he said that our 4 man rushes weren't very effective. Said our rush timing was a little off and that we missed having Jones out there this week.

Said he thought it was the most solid performance so far for Wilson...called Wagner a surprise for being as far along as he is, but said Bruce is doing what they expected so far.

They thought Stafford would throw more down the field, and were a bit surprised at how much he used the quick underneath passes instead of the big plays you generally see from the Lions.

Said he'd like to see us in the low 30 to upper 20 percent on 3rd down conversions (I believe we are in the 40's off the top of my head)

Asked about the challenge flag....said it was a "blunder"..said he "screwed up". Pretty much repeated what he said earlier on KIRO

Asked about the types of calls being made on 3rd and long being different and he said sure they are different. (didn't really expound on it more than to say teams aren't expected to run)

Called the Miller TD throw/catch "terrific"

Likes the way the penalties are coming around and looks like it could be a factor that works for us in the second half.

Asked if being on the road affects the pass rush... He said he thinks it's more that being at home affects the rush more than being away affects it.

Robinson and Obo....they are seeing specialists and he doesn't know

Tate is ok

We'll know more later on injuries.....longshot on Baldwin this week

Still talking about possibilities with Thurmond coming back

Edwards has "a condition" stiff knee with swelling. Says there's no damage, they have to see how it goes, but they anticipate that he'd be ok.

Says they are looking at all the options right now with the injuries piling up on WR

Asked about Lynch and he said how much of a team player he is. Said he's got great heart, great style and it was nice to see him get a chance to show some speed for a change.

Said Turbin's been a good spark off the bench. He runs the whole game plan. Blocks well, catches well and that he's doing his part in special teams.

No questions or answers in regard to injuries to either Lynch or Turbin (for those who wanted to know

Well, Stafford checked down more because that's what works. It's what GB, NE, SF and now Detroit did.

what did he say about the short passes killing us?

Honestly he went on for awhile talking about how we didn't expect them to use the underneath passing game so much, but never came out and said we should have done this or we didn't do that. Mostly just said that we had guys (mentioned the LB group specifically) being in the wrong places and the timing being just off a little bit

He also was asked about the outspoken/brash talk coming from the defense the past few weeks. Said the players are getting a feel of how things are done and that he personally doesn't like to have distractions but the trash talk is not a problem at this time. Just not the way he likes doing things. He said if it became a problem, they would address it. Wanted to make sure whomever is speaking out is speaking for the whole team and not just themselves. He wants the players to be cognizant of the messaging they are delivering.

He also mentioned that they thought Stafford would get antsy to hit the deeper plays, unlike Brady and others who chewed them up on the short stuff. Said that Stafford played a smart game and didn't get impatient.

I hope he is more of a hardass with his players

Definitely. Maybe he should drop his pants at half time.

Okay, I can KINDA see that point. I guess makign the Lions use patience with their scoring is an okay strategy. But, just "okay".

Carroll is probably still stuck in the old Raiders days, thinking Stafford is like the Mad Bomber. I think that is why he likes Wilson. Bombs away mofo!

At this point Pete should realize that opposing offenses see what we do and don't do well and game plan for it. It sounds like we need to do some self scouting instead of relying on only what the opposing offense is known for.

I for one fully expect to see Minny run a lot of underneath stuff, RB passes and screens.

Need to sniff that stuff out boys!

Kitna would smoke Ponder in a strongest arm competition. So, yeah, Minny will go underneath, they have no choice.

I have a feeling that'll be okay in this game. Play tight, press coverage, trust the ability of your DB's and LB's to tackle, and DONT respect Ponder's arm. Even Ponder doesn't respect his arm.

I like how he says they were surprised by all the underneath stuff. But there were no adjustments to it. In fact, it got worse in the 2nd half.

I'm starting to worry about in game adjustments from this coaching staff.
