I am wondering if the Seahawks will do the same to Peyton that they did to Keapernick. Pressure him from one side to force him to move. They did this to Keap because his efficiency drops a lot when being forced to his left

Maybe do it to Manning because well, he isn't mobile as it is. The difference is... vs San Fran they had to keep Irvin at the line to spy on Kaep. vs Manning his rushing ability isn't as dangerous so Irvin can drop into coverage to try and interrupt the quick short routes.

Just a thought...

I think the key is to play max protect on every possession. Manning kills blitzes and releases the ball 1.5-2.5 seconds. Bringing an extra rusher will hurt us more than it will help us, IMO. Rush four, get into the passing lanes, and hold assignments. That's the best thing to do. No blitzes, or very few blitzes.

Whatever the pass rush strategy, it will be imperative to keep constant pressure and maximum disruption on the Old-Timer.

If he is allowed anything but minimum time, we all know what he is capable of.

Game plan is simple, don't change anything and just win your battle.

Teams that get shredded by Manning are teams that fall into his trap of guessing what he's going to do on every play. The Hawks have the defensive talent to just play their base defense and punch Denver in the mouth EVERY SINGLE PLAY until they're frustrated and sore..........which will result in mistakes.

Basically if they can get interior pressure consistently, the defense will be fine. Manning's not going over the top of the defense. Solid short-medium coverage from Kam and the LBs + consistent interior pressure will hold the Broncos to about 20-24 points. Then it's up to the offense to score one more than that to win it.

Statisticaly Payton's effectiveness takes big hits after he does. We have to get to him and we do have the speed to do it. Just have to be smart about it. If our DB's can press the Denver receivers then Payton will have no where to go with the ball when he does pick up the blitz.

+1

Also there's been some talk today about Denver's attempts to get our CB's to play pivot and return routes because bigger CB's have problems switching their hips and getting back on those routes.

Also they said they're going to try Thomas over the middle because he gambles sometimes on underneath routes and they may try a stunt and go or a "stugo" as it's called.

I hope our guys see this. I'm sure they will and they'll be ready. It could also be them throwing out misinformation as a way to throw us off.

The gamesmanship is afoot gentlemen.

True, but Manning knows this. Which is why his offense is predicated by using bunch formations and misdirection to quickly get rid of the ball so he's not sacked, or even hurried or knocked down.

The problem for Manning will be the fact that our press cover is going to suffocate his receivers at the line so they won't be able to get to their spots within the 2.5 seconds he likes them to be. He's going to have to hold the ball a tick or two longer...........which means our D-Line should be able to get to him and get some hits on him like you're talking about.

If you want a model for defeating Manning, I would say to look at the Colts game. They stopped the run early and got pressure with Mathis (who played out of his mind). Peyton threw up many passes in tight coverage and frankly was lucky he didn't get picked off more than the once that he was. He was getting rid of the ball too quickly, in terms of throwing to covered receivers rather than be more patient. Granted, the Broncos still scored 33 in this game so you could argue how successful Indy actually was.

The other game was vs the Chargers on Thursday night. The offense only scored 20 and the entire team played like crap. But they also followed the general strategy of no blitzing. If you blitz a lot, Peyton will know and will beat you.

Play the receivers tight and force Manning to hang onto the ball looking for his second and third read; the rush should get to him by then. The pass rush was better than the numbers indicate vs the Niners but Kaepernick's mobility allowed him to get away. Manning can't do that. He's got the quicker release but that's why they have to take his first read away and make him hold it.

As for trying to fool Thomas and get him on a deap shot, I remember in the MNF game, Gruden said that Brees would try and do that at some point and test Thomas. Either Brees never had time or Earl never bit.

Front seven getting pressure on QB is the key, like it always is. Shut the running game down and force Manning to throw some picks.

I don't think the idiots in the media understand. The Hawks are NOT going to change their plan for Payton Manning or anybody else. Our offense will run around Percy and Marshawn with a sprinkle of Tate and Baldwin. Carroll has full confidence that we can lay the smack down on Denver's offense. Denver prides itself on outmaneuvering defenses. This will be the first defense this year that says to the Donkeys we don't think you can beat us man to man, go ahead and try. As it has been all year, it isn't about Denver, it's about the Hawks!!!!
