He's given an 8.4, same as Kaepernick. I don't have too much of a problem with the list other than Newton and Luck being overrated. They were both inferior to Kaep and Wilson in pretty much every statistical category other than yards. DVOA and passer rating both favor Wilson and Kaepernick. QBR did rate Luck higher than Russell, but only by two points and that is a very flawed metric anyways.

It seems to be another case of Kaep and Wilson being downgraded because of their offenses. Of course they've also taken their teams to superbowls, Wilson winning his and Kaepernick one play away from taking his team to a second.

Anyways, it's a good read with some good insight from a once good GM.

Seems a little low to me actually, just for laughs the QB's Angelo drafted in his 12 years with the Bears.

2003 Rex Grossman - classic journeymen QB, backup with Redskins
2004 Craig Krenzel - Lasted 2 years in NFL
2005 Kyle Orton - classic journeymen QB, backup with Cowboys
2010 Dan LeFevour - Bounced around 4 teams in 2 years, now in CFL
2011 Nathan Enderle - Bounced around 4 teams in 2 years, now with Arena league

I mean obviously he was a GM in the NFL for a long time, he knows football... but I wouldn't call him a QB guru by any means.

To me, Russell is Top 5 or 6.

Russell doesn't get the reps so he doesn't get the snaps. As some other sites have shown he has an adjusted net yards/attempt of close to Manning and an incredibly low interception percentage.
He doesn't have overall stats BECAUSE HE DOESN'T GET THE REPS. He may never get that credit if we always have a good defense but oh well.

Adjusted net Yards per attempt - 5th ALL TIME
Passer Rating 3rd among current QBs
Passing TD% - 2ND ALL TIME in passing efficiency - ahead Steve Young and Peyton Manning and only behind Aaron Rodgers (passing TD % is Touchdowns/pass attempts)

In what universe is Cam Newton better than Drew Brees? The Play60 kid doesn't even believe that.

Limit him to a 100+ passer rating and a Lombardi trophy, I guess. Yeah, that was a dumb statement.

Whoa, I didn't catch that. No wonder Angelo was fired, dementia must be catching up with him.

The arm talent thing, kind of a tip he's clueless. What a joke. :34853_doh:

Yep. Lost all credibility in regards to Russ when said his arm talent would limit him. Russell has a great arm.

So 3 guys ahead of Russell don't have a ring...And somehow their better?
Key words in the headline is 'Former GM'.

This guy is a total Larry. He quips that Russell is limeted by his size and arm strength yet he also has Manzel ranked as the number one talent in the draft and As a GM he pretty much inked the anti Russell.

The ring argument doesn't hold water. Marino doesn't have a ring, Flacco does.

Dilfer has a ring...

Wilson's stats stand on his own. Too bad few actually look at them.

***my bad wrote 2 rings.

Manzel may be very good but he is too much like Keapernick
mentally for my liking and emotionally? That could be a disaster. He needs at least one more year in college.

That's true Mizzou but my point was really that Manzel is under six feet and almost 20 lbs lighter than Russell is but Larry Angelo apparently doesn't believe his size will limit him at the NFL level.

Even Dilfer has gone on record saying Wilson has a top 5 arm in the NFL right now. This guy is absolutely clueless. I have no problem with rating Wilson wherever you want to(even though he's wrong) but at least do your homework.
