Seattle is favorite to land DE Michael Bennett, who some regard as the top free agent available. Announcement could come as early as today.

On Michael Bennett: He spent time in the Seahawks facility yesterday. Wants to return. SEA pushing hard. Bears turning attention elsewhere

You can't always believe what you hear from a Chicago-based, biased beat writer?

Wow, who knew?

Not surprising:

One source says #Bears offering $8.5 million per year for Michael Bennett and #Seahawks at $8 million annually. That is word around league.

Well all I can say is someone has to go for Bennett to stay. Any guesses who(besides Red and Rice)?
Maybe Clemons restructures and/or gets cut. Tate or Baldwin?
I love this news but I am scared of who has to leave now..

This is equally large news! 8 M a year? Hell yeah. That's great!

If he takes taxes into account, he goes with Seattle.

Well, considering Illinois has a 5% income tax, the difference is basically minimal ($75,000).

Bears have to offer more than that to compete, I'd think. With those offers, he'd a) be on a much better team with Seattle, and b) still probably have more money after taxes to show for it. Win-win for Seattle if these offers are correct.

We have near 23 million in cap space after the Rice and Bryant cuts along with the larger than expected cap increase.

The dollar figures are just as big as the actual news. A contract structured for 8 MM with the new cap figures, is a huge win.

With cost of living factored in, it's probably around the same money. Unless he was planning to bunk with Martellus.
