Will Smith is a big bodied DE that should be able to slide inside or move around the D-line like a less athletic Michael Bennett. I think Smith would be good insurance for the D-line in case of any injuries and Smith should thrive in the Seattle 2 down rotation rather than playing 3 downs all game. Smith will have over a year of recovery time when the season starts.

According to John Clayton of ESPN, former Saints defensive end Will Smith is visiting the Patriots today.

Smith’s attempt to fit into a 3-4 with the Saints never got off the ground last year, as he tore his ACL in training camp. Before then, there were legitimate questions about whether he’d fit or whether he wanted to. It became a moot point when he became part of their veteran cap-clearing purge in February
