AJ Jefferson is an interesting CB prospect for us. He definitely has the size we like standing in at 6'1".

So perhaps the rationale is for Armanti Edwards to spell Golden Tate as a punt returner?

Seattle needs a new punt returner after Golden Tate signed with the Detroit Lions this offseason. Edwards has returned 40 punts for 281 yards in four years with Cleveland and the Carolina Panthers. That could be the angle of interest for Seattle in Edwards in addition to his receiving ability.

Edwards

Would guess Edwards may be getting a look to compete with a guy like Ricardo Lockette.. though not sure if Edwards has experience as a kick/punt coverage guy

Neither has had all that stellar a pro career but both have interesting athletic ability. Both are vet min type players who could have an upside if coached up on technique. Edwards is a small school QB to WR conversion project who was a solid college QB but so far has shown nothing as a pro WR. It appears Edwards was overdrafted @pick #89 and Jefferson was a UDFA with the Cardinals. Jefferson is a raw, technique starved athlete with exceptional measurables 6'1" 4.34/40, 4.00/SS @ 190 who has some raw pro ability at CB and could be a candidate for improvement if he can 'take up some technique' as far as being coached. Edwards has shown some limited ability as a pro to be a returner which might make him interesting just for that reason. Both could be players of interest if they are willing to come to compete. They both could be reclamation projects and offer value if they improve here.

Makes sense. We haven't signed our annual Viking yet.

Well, Armanti Edwards is from the same small town in South Carolina as I am. I'd be all for having him in camp.
