Well, DUH!!! :17:

Perhaps more underpaid than underrated, quarterback Russell Wilson was a major part of the Seahawks' Super Bowl puzzle in 2013. While the defense tends to get most of the credit for last season's rise to the top, Wilson did plenty to ensure the team wouldn't fail.

He posted an impressive 101.2 passer rating during the regular season and was ranked fourth overall among quarterbacks by Pro Football Focus for the year. His rookie contract paid him just more than $526,000 for his efforts.

And they got this one right on. :th2thumbs:

Overrated: QB Colin Kaepernick

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick provided quite a few highlights during the team's march to the NFC Championship Game.

However, it is difficult to justify the fact that the 49ers just handed him a new contract that could be worth up to $126 million.

After all, he has just 23 regular-season starts under his belt and can be fairly inconsistent in the passing game (which is somewhat important for a quarterback). He passed for 175 yards or less eight different times last season and was rated just 18th overall among quarterbacks by Pro Football Focus.

Good find!
I agree with both assessments but you may have opened up a can of worms when certain individuals that root for the gold and burgandy read this.

you could go down the list of his accmplishments that are either number one or top 3 numbers of all time.

It gets pretty ridiculous that it even has to be defended.

Put 6'2 next to his name and there is talk of him being one of the best of all time with a tremendous ceiling.

RW underrated obviously

Kaep - maybe but he had a good season. Where I disagree with BR is as it ties to the contract. It is filled with incentives and can be broken at almost any point with very little in regards to dead cap hit. If it pays out in full then he earned it, if he disappoints then he won't see large chunks of it

Pretty amazing isn't it? That's the lazy "coventional wisdom think" of the NFL, teams, scouts, mediots, etc etc etc that permeates. Well one Lombardi proved them wrong, let's pile it on now!

I would maybe re-frame this as insufficient data. His QB ratings aside, they came about becuase RW didn't throw much and we have a 5 star running game and a great defense. I'd like to see how Wilson would do on the '07 Hawks - running back in decline, aging veterans, hit or miss receiving core...

He has proven to be one of the league's very best at 4th qtr. comebacks and on 3rd downs. That's all I need to know that this kid has ice water in his veins, and he will elevate his game no matter what the situation.

The author seems to be collapsing how much each of these guys are paid with if they're overrated or underrated, which is kind of zany, particularly when comparing someone on their rookie deal with someone off their rookie deal. By this logic Kap was underrated last week but is overrated this week; I don't think the way anyone has rated him has changed, nor will it change for Wilson when he's off his rookie deal and gets big bucks next year.

Of course, if you take the "rated" out of it and simply say that Wilson is underpaid on his rookie deal you don't get to write an article, because it's such a banal observation that it's totally meaningless. Long story short: Bleacher Report. ;)

(also worth saying that with regards to players being overrated or underrated, I think practically all unaffiliated NFL fans rate Wilson > Kap at this point, and rightly so.)

We lost to GB in the playoffs because our defense couldn't stop their running game. We were too old and slow.

Ryan Grant burned us for 201 yards and 3 TDs on 27 carries.

Russell could not have affected that.

Really his QB rating is a product of not throwing a lot , you do realize no matter how much you throw you still need to make the plays, I guess we can ignore Rodgers QB rating he threw less than RW and had a better o-line and WRs, NO matter how many times you throw you still need to make the pays and to di behind the worse pass blocking o-line in the league and without your 2 starting WRs, and with a bunch of avg wrs is impressive. We did not have a 5 start running game this year, 5 star is top 5, our RB was not top 5, and in ypa he was 23rd, we as a team were only top 5 (4th) because our QB was top 2 in QB rushing with over 500 Yards. Take that away and take all QB rushing away we were 22nd. It really helps to know the whole story before you say stuff that is wrong.
