Minor roster move: Hawks sign RoJo

The Hawks officially placed Anthony McCoy on IR and have signed former USC WR Ronald Johnson (nicknamed "RoJo").

I feel bad for McCoy. If RoJo can run like FloJo we got somthin'.

Wow, a lot of USC free agents. Ronald Johnson played WR/KR for Pete from 2007-09. He was drafted by the 49ers but was cut almost immediately. Since then, he has bounced around a couple different practice squads. Unfortunately, his chances of making the team are probably close to 0%.

Not to nitpick, but just for accuracy, FIFY....

Ronald Johnson played WR/KR for USC from 2007-10. He was drafted by the 49ers but was cut during the final cutdown to 53. Since then, he was with the Eagles in 2011 (PS) and 2012 (IR-ankle), and out of football in 2013.

Ronald Johnson played WR/KR for USC from 2007-10. He was drafted by the 49ers but was cut during the final cutdown to 53. Since then, he was with the Eagles in 2011 (PS) and 2012 (IR-ankle), and out of football in 2013.

I edited my post to clarify that Johnson played for Pete from 2007-09. Johnson famously dropped a wide-open pass that could have been the game-winning touchdown against Notre Dame in 2010.

Yeah, and it was an uncharacteristic drop for him. Of course, had the team played better, he'd never have had to worry about it.

That was a miserable game. It poured rain and was COLD. I remember seeing some poor kid sitting two rows behind us in just a t-shirt and jeans and he looked miserable--all hunched over from the cold.

A big Fight On! to both Anthony and RoJo!

Forgot to mention, RoJo handled kick returns for a few years and then punt returns his senior year. He averaged just over 14 yards per punt return. Maybe he'll get a shot at that job for the Hawks.

Thanks for posting this. I was wondering who "Johnson" was wearing #1 in the TC video stream today and didn't see it reported anywhere before I had to head to work.

May be the fastest roster move. Now that Beastmode is back they will need another move. Perhaps JesseWill.
