This is Carroll's fifth year in Seattle. Exactly once per season, he's produced a work of scoragami.

2010: Seahawks 36, Cardinals 18
2011: Seahawks 36, Giants 25
2012: Seahawks 58, Cardinals 0
2013: Seahawks 43, Broncos 8 (Super Bowl XLVIII)
2014: Seahawks 36, Packers 16

None of those final scores had ever happened before. To produce even one work of scoragami in one's career would be quite an achievement. To do it five times in as many years is sorcery. What's important to remember about scoragami is that you also have to incentivize your opponent to start scoring all silly, and Carroll does it better than anyone.

That's actually really interesting. Hard to imagine that with as many games have been played that there's really that many unattained scores out there. Pretty cool.

Really cool concept. It's one of those things you automatically put into your score predictions when you try to figure out a likely score, and it's interesting to see it put on paper.

And all five of those games were convincing Seahawks wins.

A surprising number of 36 pointers still available which surprises me

You'd think it easily attainable given the following scores would result in it:

3 TDs and 5 FGs
4 TDs, 2 FGs, 1 safety
5 TDs and 1 2 pt conversion

Not common, but common enough I'd have thought to beat a team 36-23, 36-9 or 36-12 (in addition to the 3 Carroll already has)

It's all those darn safeties! At least the last two on the list.
Fascinating point about all the never-before game scores.

One recurring formula is that Seattle gets a safety, and the opponent attempts, and makes, a 2-point conversion, with all other TD PATs being 1-pointers.

Does anyone have a game-by-game breakdown of what led to the unusual scores in each of those?
Safeties, two point conversions, missed extra points, etc.

A couple examples to start the ball rolling... into the end zone, for a safety...

Seattle vs Green Bay 2014, 36-16, Seattle had a safety. Green Bay's 2-point conversions evened out, 1 made, 1 missed, and 16 is not an unusual score; the 36 by Seattle is.

Seattle vs Denver 2014 Super Bowl XLVIII, Seattle had a safety, and Denver had a single 2 point conversion with no other PATs involved.

Seattle vs NYG 2011, Seattle had a safety, and NYG had a single 2 point conversion, with all other PAT's being 1 pointers.

That's 3 of the 5, anyone up for filling in the last two?

The 58-0 laugher involved 3 Hauschka FG's and 7 touchdowns (lol)

The 36-18 game had 5 Olindo Mare FG's and a late Cards TD + 2 point conversion. So funny enough, one way or the other.. Pete Carroll could have had two 36-16 games in his tenure, or two 36-18 games.

Thanks for filling in the blanks on those two games!
The 36-18 score seems like the harder unique score to hit, as 18 is an uncommon score in addition to 36.

6 TDs with 6 failed 2pt conversions :)

5TDs, one failed PAT / 2pt conversion then a safety :)

Point being there are some more improbable ways as well
