Ran another NFL Combined Power Rankings using relative placement. Clear majority placements this time for 1st through 5th. I was surprised to see the Seahawks 5th, thought they'd be much lower (could be the doom and gloom in me?).

Two teams that fell out: Bengals and 49ers

Interesting factoid: All teams that made it in PLUS the two teams that fell out all have better records than the Seahawks.

Sounds like analysts aren't ready yet to write the Seahawks off yet. Neither should you :)

We are still in the top 10? I find that incredible.

Actually surprised a lot of places don't have it lower.

Seriously...

Someone ranking us 3rd? No idea where that comes from.

Even ranking us 5th .... I would almost say that's a maybe, but really there are other teams that could definitely be in front of us like 49ers, Bengals, and even the Packers.

Interestingly the only NFL Power Ranking that seems purely based on number-crunching (Washington Post "Fancy Stats") has us 3rd... I'm curious where that number came from.

You don't realize how tough our schedule truly has been until you look at a power ranking.
You can make a legitimate argument we've played 4 of the top 5 teams in football

I suppose you could. Good point

From the combined rankings, we played the top 3 teams and then some.

Denver (4-1, combined ranking: 1st)
San Diego (5-1, combined ranking: 2nd)
Dallas (5-1, combined ranking: 3rd)
Green Bay (4-2, combined ranking: 7th)
Redskins (1-4)

And overall the games on paper were close. We lost by 9 points and 7 points.

Maybe that's why "Fancy Stats" spit us out 3rd

But those losses we had, we definitely were outplayed and the score doesn't signify just how poorly we played.

Yeah but if you lose to two of them, one at home, and both of them pretty lopsided. Take away the special teams gifts in this Cowboys game and we were dominated. That doesn't help your case either. This team can get better, I just hope it's soon. Sadly gonna have to peak in like 2 weeks with that schedule coming up.

Not sure about peak, definitely have to turn things around. They have awhile to peak

@ Rams (1-4)
@ Panthers (3-2-1) (is this the one you mean? that will be tough)
Raiders (0-5)
Giants (3-3)
@ Chiefs (2-3)

Hopefully we utilize this time to figure things out

The NFC West and NFC definitely will be figured out the last 1/4 of the season

@49ers
@Eagles
49ers
@Cardinals
Rams

Seahawks could be lower really. How any of them put the Broncos #1 is what is beyond me.

I don't like statements like this. Take away a lucky 3rd down play by Dallas and they lose. Take away a bad PI call on Sherman, and that game ends differently. Take away a dropped pass by Kearse and it's different. Take away Dallas' defense and it's different. Take away anything and the game changes entirely. That's not how it works. The game was played, the score is what it is. Special teams are as much a part of the game as anything. It's silly to say "well, take away their defense and it's different". The game was played and the final score is what it is.
