Offensive penalties: 6 for 45 yards. Defensive penalties: 4 for 44 yds.
We ran 68 plays for 468 yds, that makes 6.8 yds per play. You factor in the penalties and we ran 74 plays for 423 yds, that makes 5.7 yds per play.
Penalties called on our offensive line are costing us over one yard per play.
The Rams, by comparison, only got called for two penalties the entire game. They averaged 5.6 yds per play. The fact we outgained them 463 yds to 272 doesn't mean squat if in doing so we give up so many penalties that it cancels out. Those are drive killers. Those are what put us in those 3rd and long situations.
Those five offensive linemen are truly offensive. They can't pass block and they are gutting our offensive production when we DO move the ball.
And it's been that way for a LONG time. Before 2013.
