Maybe not the best....but he'll always be my favorite.

I'm really going to miss that dude's personality around our team.

This is indeed a sad day for me. Since Matt came in for Trent Dilfer in Dallas I was a Matt believer, I did orginally give up on him after his first season. That Eagles game at Husky stadium might have been one of the worst quarterback performances in Seahawk History, granted it wasnt all Matt and we did have pretty bad OL then. Im gonna miss him, but never forget the memories. From the first Green Bay Packer playoff loss and the infamous quote "We want the ball, and were gonna score" to the last playoff win againt the saints and his 4 TD perfomance. Matt you will always be apart of Seattle and Seattle will always love #8. Thank you for giving us all you had, on and off the field.

What an emotional day, Thank you Matthew Hasselbeck for all that you have brought to my team through the years. I thank you for your play on the field, and your humor, and humanity off the field. You will truly be missed by all of us 12's! Good luck and best wishes to you and your family.

Much love from #12 to #8.... Matt, you were in my mind always a class act for this team. It's just going to be very strange to see you playing for another team. Please don't sign with anyone in our division as I simply would hate to root for you to get drilled by a blitzing linebacker. It seems as though we have reached the end of an era. It was a pleasure watching you for all these years. Best of luck and here's to your health man.

I hated Matt Hasselbeck the first couple years, and i mean HATED. Like Mystermatt hates david greene and throwdown hates Kelly Jennings. But now he is my all time favorite Hawk even surpassing Steve Largent. I'll definatly miss him and can't wait to see him on TV someday in a media role.

Matt, let all the naysayers say what they want, you brought toughness, smarts, a chip on your shoulder and leadership to the Seahawks, gave everything you had on the field ever and nobody can say you didn't put this team on your back each and every week, even whan in hind sight there were times you tried to do to much.

Your part of a legacy of QB's here in Seattle with Zorn, Kreig, and now yourself that overcame odds and did something special when all the pundints never gave any of them a chance to be a NFL caliber QB let alone a starter and winner.

Best of luck wherever you go, I'll be rooting for you to go out on top and have one last dance with the Fat Lady while she sings.

Matt is one of the classiest people in professional sports. Never brought any bad press to the team and was always someone you could look up to and be proud of. I hope he finishes his career with a bang and then comes back to claim his rightful place in the Ring of Honor. I will miss not rooting for you Hass.

Thanks #8! The only Seattle Seahawks QB to ever lead his team to a SuperBowl, what a great run that was! :) You are a warrior Matt, best of luck except when you play Seattle!

This is a pretty low day in my life as a Seahawk fan.. not post-Super Bowl XL low, but it's up there.

I'll always be a fan of Matt Hasselbeck - hope he goes to the Titans and takes that team to a Super Bowl (ideally losing to us) :th2thumbs:

He started the first year I had season tickets, going to be strange not watching him run out of that tunnel...

My friend and I have talked about this moment for years: the moment Hasselbeck would leave, and what it would mean. It truly is the end of the greatest era for this franchise in its brief history. That era was all but over when Hutchinson and Holmgren left, and then when Big Walt left it was all down to #8. Inexplicably he willed our battered team further into the season than it would have been without him.

Our descent into mediocrity to below-average is complete with his leaving, and we will be there for the next 3 season at least I'd guess. It's not like we really have anything we're building around at this point offensively.

It was a helluva roller coaster ride. Now time to sit back and lower the 'ol expectations.

I will miss Hasselbeck. To me he was a warrior. thanks Matt for giving this team an identity and some BALLS. "we want the ball and we are gonna score" helped us fans finally feel like we mattered again. Not a person here, or a fan that saw you play can ever say you didn't fight and give all you had. I wish him nothing but the best and will wear #8 to the stadium with pride.

Honored that I got to see his last game at Qwest. I'm sad that we didn't chant HASS-EL-BECK like he deserved.

Great player. Great man. Great interview. Only jersey I own.

Too many memories to count. Lighting up the defending champs has got to be one of the best last home games for a franchise player in history. That was magic, and I'll never forget that game. Also, I can't think of anyone else who could turn a pick-six for a playoff loss into a memory that I will cherish forever. The end zone slide in the Skins game is my all time favorite memory aside of when you hoisted that NFC title into the air. You hoisted that trophy for every Seahawk fan who thought we'd never get to do it...

Love you, buddy, and good luck!

I appreciate all you have done for the Franchise Matt, you are one of the best QB's Seattle has seen. But sometimes change is good and I hope it works well for both parties.

This is directed at everyone, but it just plays off what Kansas says here:

I wonder what the consensus will be on Matt at the end of the year. Will seeing him in a different jersey open some eyes to his faults? (Or conversely, will his success in a different make some of us regret parting ways?)

We were away from home all last winter and were lucky enough to be in a campground with cable hookups so we could see that NO game. As many have said, it was great that he could go out with his last game at home like that.

We were out in the boonies the next week so didn't see the game but my brother in law who is a die hard Ray-Duh fan said he would have carried them through that game too if anyone could have caught the damned ball!

I clearly remember saying loudly "IF MATT HASSLEBECK IS THE ANSWER WHAT THE HELL IS THE QUESTION?" Well he answered that one for all of us. Despite his faults he gave his all every time.

I'm not very confident with the new choices so again will have to wait and see.

Man, I was hoping we would be able to keep him. I seriously don't think that CW or TJ are going to be better. I still think if someone puts a decent line in front of him that he could have a real nice finish to his career.

Our family loves Matt Hasselbeck. My wife and I got married in 2004. I've been a lifer with the Hawks. Anyway, she fell in love with the Hawks, and just expects us to go to the Super Bowl every year. Her favorite player is Hass...

Anyway, good luck and God bless, Matt. If they don't put you in the Ring of Honor, I'm gonna get a can of spray-paint and put you there myself!!

I first saw Matt fill in for Farve in GB on a Monday night game, he was impressive ... Then we got Holmy and he eventually brings this Matt Hasselbeck guy in and I was stoked !!! Everybody gave me crap for supporting the move and seeing the silver lining. In the end, I was right, he totally rocked !!!

I will always be a fan of Matt's, he is a class act and a heck of a person, always took the high road ...

I actually shed a tear when I heard it was over, hard to believe ... He'll always be my favorite.

Good Luck and God Speed Matt !!! I'll be cheering for you brother !!!

Hey guys I've been thinking, this thread is nice and all but considering that this is Matt we're talking about and how much of a class act he has been, maybe we could get together find a way to actually send our thanks to the man himself.

Thank you, Matt. You've been my favorite Seahawk for a number of years now and you're repaid my trust with class, dedication, and more memorable games that I can count. I wish you nothing but the best for the rest of your career. See you in the Ring of Honor.

The best way I can think to put it: Guys like Hass are why I love football. There arent many and I realize how fortunate we were to have him

Well said. There are only a handful of guys every decade that are like him.

Thanks for everything Matt.

I'll see at the Jaguars/Titans season opener rocking my #8 Seahawks home jersey.

Going to see him for either the Texans/Titans game, or the Colts/Titans game. Leaning towards the Colts game, would be nice to see Hass and Manning.

I hate it that he's gone. I can't wrap my head around it, seeing as I've never experienced another starter on the team. I turned a fan in late 2003.. thanks to my uncle playing Madden and teaching me to.
