Yeah, doesn't look like it'll last more than a day or so. Not gonna be that cold during the days.

  • 8" of snow on the ground at my house in North Bend. Not supposed to get above freezing until tomorrow and even then just barely.

The only road in or out of my neighborhood is steep and winding. Already walked down there this morning and it's a no go.

    SNOW DAY!!! :D

Pretty sure the Grocers Association and News Outlets are in bed together...........it's like a hurricane is coming, not six inches of snow.

    And why bread and milk?

I thought everyone knew the most important item to stock for a snowstorm is booze. It's what makes you not kill each other confined to the house with each other for 72 hours.

  • Clearing out grocery store shelves is pretty silly and definitely an overreaction, but ....

...A period of 2 inch per hour snowfall
accumulations is likely during todays late afternoon and evening
commute in the Tacoma, Everett, Seattle, and Bremerton area.
Travel is likely to become very difficult.

    https://forecast.weather.gov/showsig...2#.XF3RsVxKibg

The essential point in all this, is that things should not be too bad before roughly 2-3 PM, but by rush hour, the situation should be declining rapidly. The UW is closing around 12:30 PM, which is wise, since it allows folks to be home by mid-afternoon.

    https://cliffmass.blogspot.com/

... If this is even half as bad as is being forecast, we are likely looking at a pretty epic shit show on the roads in a few hours.

    Be careful out there folks.

  • Got 8 plus inches here, looks like the main roads are getting worked pretty well, that works if your near one, the side streets are loaded still and my car will get about 200 feet and high center once I plow forward, also I live on a highland area so everything is a hill, going up hill can be a challenge, but gravity and a Ice base now can be a problem going down hill. They were out of chains for my size tires so I am pretty well stuck till my neighbors pack down the roads enough to navigate.

We get 8 inch dumps at least 3 times a winter out here in Michigan. Lake effect snow is a bitch. That’s what we get for living near gigantic lakes. We are prepared for it though. That is the difference between this location and yours. When I lived in Sunnyside Washington I only remember it snowing one time and it was only 2 inches. Your roads are so much nicer out there because of the lack of regular Winter road maintenance. Michigan’s roads are complete shit because of the regular harsh Winters.

Must of been a while back, due to pot holes and tar patching cracks most roads in King County suck ass, now when you get out of the Cities they are a lot better, guess thats the game, don't fix them and scream poverty and raise transportation tax, commuter taxes, excise tax and weight taxes. Yet we never get them fixed and it goes into the general fund for providing revenue for projects that are always tens of millions over budget.

But we can spend 500 million on Bike lanes.

Now they are talking charging you for bringing a vehicle into Seattle at all. This is after they raise parking rates, take away parking, take roads away for bus only travel.

Also they use a ton of salt and chemicals back East on roads that erode also, being Green here they limit any use of that stuff unless it's an Emergency situation. They also don't have a Fleet of Trucks to clear roads like back east also, they figure extreme weather does not happen enough to justify it, so we stay buried longer.

  • Salt is a bitch on cars out here. The wealthier people I know, get an undercoat treatment every year. Us poor folk just end up driving rust buckets. I prefer gravel on roads for traction but the only time it’s used is when it’s so cold that salt will just create more ice like when the polar vortex hit us not too long ago.

I don’t think they are using that in my neck of the woods. Does it turn snow a color? I live in southwestern Michigan near Grand Haven, not far from Grand Rapids.

  • Had 13 inches on the deck here in Shoreline the other day, probably another 6-8 after that.
I’ve shoveled more snow in the last 72 hours than I have in the last 10 years combined, clearing off the deck, driveway and getting neighbors and myself unstuck on the ice rink that is the street.

I’m ready for spring, 55 and sunny. 8)

    Your like an hour away..
You are closer to the lake..
Beet juice is the color of beet and snow and ice can't change that
It works great and better than salt in my opinion.
Salt is cheaper but horrible for vehicles and probaly the roads
    as well..
Chris..On those potholes,we have the same problems..
Michigan/Indiana always creating taxes that are supposed to fix the roads
but yet 30 years ago these roads didn't seem to need taxes and were in
    better shape than today.
