  • A deal for Berry would be very interesting. The Chiefs save essentially nothing from moving on from the former No. 5 overall selection. He is scheduled to make $16.5 million this season, which is significant for a 30 year old that has played a total of three games and recorded a total of 11 tackles over the past two years. If Kansas City trades or outright releases him, they would be on the hook for $14.95 million dead cap space

  • Sounds like they just didn't see the value at paying his salary this year. The timing of his guarantee coming up isn't a coincidence. With his injury history, I can see why a team might be wary of too much guaranteed money.

  • When healthy, Berry is a force. Incentive contract, paid by how many games he makes the 46 man roster, would be ideal. You could sign him for good money knowing he would be worth it if he only gets paid for games available to play.

  • Classic example of why it was smart to move on from Earl.

What makes you think Berry would play for half of the money Earl is getting?

I just don't see Berry signing for much less than Earl. He may take less guarantees, but he's an elite talent at the position.

  • Sounds like his ankle needs another long term surgery although his doc is saying he can play through the pain....like he did last year? As for the comparison to Earl. Berry and Thomas are the same age...have injury issues...the longterm money is not worth it.

  • It sounds like Berry's injury sitch is worse than ET's. Besides, we're going young at DB, not old.

    Pass.
