The one thing they have in common with the Whiners is bad ownership. Most NFL teams with continuous troubles are because of bad ownership. Thank God Paul Allen figured out how to hire good people and get the hell out of their way and let them do their job.

These folks live in another world. It is all about power and fans are just pawns for their stage. Had it here with Whitsett, Holmgren and Ruskell. It's always there with teams, just depends on how deep it gets. Bunch of spoiled brats that aren't into the whole share thing.

Kelly better win big next season or he could be gone. He had his own power play thing with Desean Jackson, so he isn't innocent either.

Yeah, that's a weird thing going on in Philly. Wonder if it increases or decreases the much wished Mariota trade?

Too bad Kelly can write his own ticket with pretty much any team if he is released. He's basically the perfect guy to coordinate a Russell Wilson offense.

I always imagine meddling owners (especially Jerry Jones) are thinking "Well, I bought a very expensive toy and I'm damn well going to play with it".

No idea if there is anything to it but Bay Area media starting to wonder a bit if SF might be in play because of the Tom Gamble connection.

Kaepernick: *on his knees kissing Kelly's biceps*

But more than likely he'll be paired up with Mariota in Tampa Bay for a boatload of draft picks.

Yeah, I saw the speculation that Kelly could possibly get traded to the 9ers. Wonder what soured the Eagles on Kelly this quickly? Coach too vocal? Oh well, would be interesting to see Kelly with the 9ers, would keep the heat high inter-divisional wise.

I have to wonder if this is one of those situations where the right hand man is causing trouble and the coach won't stand for it. Kelly is not one to stand idly by, and it's going to bite him if he is picking a fight with, in essence, the owner. Maybe that's the end goal. Get fired; go elsewhere.

Either way, it makes me appreciate John and Pete all the more.

That would be a good move by SF, in reality. A really good move.

Could be 100% correct, but my guess is that's exactly the rumor that would get floated if the Eagles were looking for compensation.

I have to admit, the idea of matching Kap with Kelly while keeping Fangio for defense does get me excited. But I doubt the 9er FO wants Kelly. If they did, however, it would shed light on the rift between Harbs and the FO, that being how to develop Kap.

These GMs can't get out of their own way. Besides a rare few, most of them are useless and fungible as personnel evaluation is largely a crapshoot and often comes down to coaching development. But they generally have the owners' ear and have huge egos, which causes issues.

Carroll and Belichick figured it out. You need a coach who can create the program, and a personnel guy under the coach who can compliment that vision while bringing his own tools to the table. These other owners who keep jostling between the whims of coaches and GMs are missing the point entirely. The Philly fanbase will be incensed if the owner/GM run Kelly out of town.

I don't think Kelly makes sense in SF. If he leaves Philly it's because he wants to control the program, and York/Baalke have clearly demonstrated they are unwilling to let go of the reigns. Baalke ain't steppin' down for no man after having to deal with Harbaugh's B.S.

Also, I'm convinced SF's defense takes a huge step back if it plays at Chip's tempo. The Niners, like Seattle, hide some deficiencies in defense by playing methodically on offense. Seattle leads the NFL in fewest D snaps. On the flip side, Chip drives his D and O-line into the ground, and it shows up late in the season.

I think Chip's O is pretty overrated TBH, but I think he's a good "culture" guy, which is often what makes a great HC above everything else.
