Game Day's locked...

But since it's here... :)
I HATE ZEBRAS, especially when it's so damn obvious.

The Cowboys win. It is entirely because of that call. The fix was in.

I missed that part of the game. What was the call?

DPI was called against the DAL on a 3rd and 1 play from midfield. They ref got on the PA and ANNOUNCED the DPI and giving Detroit the 1st down. About 10 seconds later they reversed the call and picked up the flag resulting in a 4th and 1 for DET. It was like 75 seconds after the play to picking up the flag.

Pass interference (obvious) on Dallas. Gave Detroit a first down, then they pick it up. Dallas scores on the ensuing possession. A 14 point swing (assuming the Lions would have scored). Pitiful ! ! !

Anyone have a clip or gif? I would be interested to see the call. Usually when they waive it off like that it was a really bad call to be begin with.

Dullass LB covering the receiver with his back turned, never turned back around and contacted receiver. Blatant PI and called 99.999999% of the time (unless it means Dullass loses a playoff game).

It was called, they just decided that since it would have gave Detroit a first down that it didn't happen all of a sudden. Well not all of a sudden, like 3 or 4 minutes after the flag was thrown. That was the real WTH moment.

If you can see the right clip, you'll see the WR grab the defender's face mask before the ball is there. The defender swings his arm to get the hand off his face. About that moment the ball arrives and their arms are tangled.

Pass interference not called: http://youtu.be/gAhqsb7Oag8

After watching the play, picking up the flag was the correct call.

Section 1, Article 2 of the rulebook clearly states that "An offensive player cannot obstruct or impede an opponent by grasping him with his hands or encircling any part of a defender’s body with his arms." The Detroit WR grasps both the defender's left arm and the back of his helmet.

So yes, there was pass interference; however, the offensive pass interference cancels out the simultaneous defensive pass interference. Picking up the flag was the just call in that situation.

Well, before any of that happened the DAL player obviously grabs the jersey of the DET player as he runs by. Not to mention Dez Bryant running out on the field after the play without his helmet on that should have been another flag. So many things wrong on that play.

There is no such thing as OPI "canceling out" DPI. If it is OPI and DPI then two penalties are called as offsetting and the down is replayed.

It also should have been a 15 yarder on Dez after the play for running out onto the field to argue with the ref.

For there to be OPI the defender has to be making a play on the ball. The defender didn't even know where the ball was.

Didn't know WRs could grab face masks when running their routes.

That's not required in the rules.

USE OF HANDS BY OFFENSIVE PLAYER
Article 2 An offensive player cannot obstruct or impede an opponent by grasping him with his hands or
encircling any part of a defender’s body with his arms, except in the following situations:
(a) If he is a runner. A runner may ward off opponents with his hands and arms. He also may lay his hand
on a teammate or push him into an opponent, but he may not grasp or hold on to a teammate; or
(b) During a loose ball that has touched the ground. An offensive player may use his hands/arms legally
to block or otherwise push or pull an opponent out of the way in a personal attempt to recover the ball.
See specific fumble, pass, or kick rules and especially 6-2-1; or
(c) During a kick. A kicking team player may use his hands/arms to ward off or to push or pull a receiver
who is legally or illegally attempting to obstruct his attempt to proceed; or
(d) During a legal block.
Penalty: For illegal use of hands, arms, or body by the offense: Loss of 10 yards.
